UCLA Class of 2028 Official Thread

Congratulation! What major did she apply?

This is exactly correct. My daughter will graduate with 40+ CC credits and even though those classes are not weighted in her GPA (HS rules) and it lowered her class rank, it shows she can handle college work. It is working out for her also (surprise admissions).

I’ve noticed this in general over the years. 3.9+ unweighted + Eagle Scout, almost assured an acceptance.

I don’t know if I would say being an Eagle Scout helps that much. None of the Eagle Scouts from our troop in the previous years gotten into UCLA. There is one kid from 6 years ago that got into Cal. So for people reading, being a scout is fun. Being a scout to get into college is probably not worth the time.

I really believe that the essays are a huge part of the decisions. Not just for the actual story/answers but the structure and flow of the writing.

I definitely agree with you and I have been saying that ever since I joined this forum.

Even though people point out that UC specifically states you won’t be penalized for grammar or writing style, BUT the readers are still human and paid by number of app they read. It just makes sense to me that if the writing is poor or the essay is “boring” then it won’t get read.

Anyone know where to see financial aid for UCLA?

You’ll need your UCLA ID Number from your admit letter. Your Logon ID and password will be your key for logging in to secure sites at UCLA. Activate your Logon ID.

You’ll need your UCLA Logon ID to View Your Provisional Award Letter (PAL) Information. Your PAL is not expected to be available until the end of April or early May due to FAFSA delays. Some scholarships may be reflected on your first PAL, while others may be offered on subsequent award notifications.

Do we have the same kid?! Almost the exact same grade stats as your daughter.

She got her volunteer experience through a local diaper bank, and doing tech crew for her high school drama department last year. We live in the inland empire as well. She goes to Catholic high school.

Mine wouldn’t let me read her essays either.

Mine was rejected from UCLA.

Deferred from EA to RD at University of Southern California.

She has been accepted to: San Diego State, CSU Long Beach, Santa Clara University (merit scholarship), Loyola Marymount (merit scholarship), University of San Diego, and University of Utah (WUE scholarship).

Still waiting: University of Southern California, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and UC Berkeley.

My wife’s name is ana! Is that you my dear? LOL
