I got the Berkeley financial aid package and both the cal grant as well as middle class scholarship were missing. I’m guessing there may be delays for both this year due to the fafsa mess. That’s my hope.
Middle class scholarship is awarded in the Fall but sometimes there might be an estimated amount in the FA package. Probably delayed like the Cal grant.

Can any one explain what AP test credits go towards if they are for and “unassigned” class? For instance the AP Biology test a score of 3-5 has “unassigned” listed under the Course you credit for, but 8 units are awarded. Does that mean it varies by college or 8 units are awarded, but no class requirement is satisfied ?
correct.
If you are a Bio Major, AP bio won’t count towards any classes, so you will need to take whatever classes are listed.
Whereas if you are, say Econ, that 8 units counts towards “life science” and gets you out of 8 units of that for GE purposes. But either way, the 8 units will boost your class standing, so you will get to Sophomore quicker and enjoy earlier registration times.
I’ve heard conflicting info about AP generic credits. That’s good that it helps with class standing and registration priorities.
Apparently different UC campus have diff AP policies. I learned it from #Tamagotchi that UCB is actually very generous whereas UCLA is relatively stingy.
This is incorrect, AP credit doesn’t count towards standing:
You can count the credits towards the 180 required for graduation. But you still have to complete the GE requirements. Other than Calc AB/BC for STEM majors, AP credit helps primarily with the foreign language requirements in L&S and also writing 1.

Personally I think it’s wild how these campuses just make up different rules.

That is an incorrect information. My son has a 5 on AP Bio and it doesn’t get you out of any GE requirement. He has to still take two biological sciences for GE. It gets applied to overall credits towards graduation. Satisfies nothing.

Have you heard back from admission? I’m in the same situation and the waiting is kinda nerve wrecking, even though I know it shouldn’t be an issue.
Do you know if classes taken at community college that are transferrable to UC can be counted toward GE requirements? Thank you!
If they articulate (check assist.org), then yes, they will count.

Do you know if there is still time to receive a scholarship from UCLA.? My son (grrr) never completed the alumni scholarship application but he had done some initial data entry for it. Now when he tried to apply for other scholarships which have a June 1st deadline the page states he is already being considered for it….
The Alumni scholarships have already been awarded and should show up in the FA package.
Regarding other scholarships you might want to check with the FA office.
