I read on reddit this person got it as a transfer student yesterday. No interview was needed. I haven’t heard anyone getting regents as a regular admit.
In the Class of 2028 Parents page in FB, if was shared by several families that their students were notified 4/19 of Regents.
Confirming what Gumbymom said. Our provisional aid letter (PAL) included loans, along with merit scholarships given directly by UCLA and amounts for each merit award.
Be cautious about the Class of 20XX pages. They are often run by third parties not affiliated with the schools. The two that I see for UCLA 2028 are both run by “Humans of University.”
UCLA has an active parent Facebook page that is run by parents. They recently changed their name to make that point very clear. Parents of UCLA Bruins! (Run by UCLA Parents)

Are you sure that class standing is calculated based on the total units completed plus units earned from AP exams?
My older son had 68 units from AP exams, but he’s still having trouble to register the higher-level courses. The units earned from AP exams might not be counted toward class standing, AP units are only applied towards graduation.
No I’m not. Someone pointed out my mistake few threads back.
Because so many kids have AP and DE credit, having so many units doesn’t distinguish anybody. I am not sure if AP credits count towards registration standing, but DE credits do.
My son is currently a first year & entered ucla with similar credits. Only transferrable DE/college credits go towards your class standing for enrollment appointment times, but all those AP credits will bump him up to sophomore standing as far as being eligible to register for classes during first pass that have a restrictions based on class standing, as long as he’s satisfied any other prerequisites the course may have. My first year bumped up to junior standing after fall quarter and has been able to register for classes during his first pass that are restricted to juniors and seniors only. Thus far it has been a tremendous help in getting him the classes he needs in a very impacted major
My son wants to take summer classes prior to fall quarter. Does any parent know more about incoming freshman taking summer classes on campus? what about housing? We thought it could be a good transit for him. I looked up the course schedule and seems that there are a wide range of courses to chose from, but we dont know where to start. Any experience or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!
I have No specific experience with any summer programs for in-coming Freshman but here is a link:

Thanks!
I would think that two courses are enough, if they are in the same 6 week session, since that would be similar to three in a regular quarter. There’s a first session 6/24 to 8/2 and a second session 8/5-9/13 and you can pick either, doing both would probably be way too much for a first summer (and one course in each would be leisurely but expensive for housing).
I’d either pick something in his major (especially if it is likely to be capacity constrained during regular term dates) or start with his GEs (which is probably more typical). Lab-based major courses may not be available in the summer. Make sure you understand how GE courses work:
https://registrar.ucla.edu/academics/ge-requirement/campuswide-ge-requirements-overview
Housing is available, the application is linked here (pick your courses first and do it right away as the registration has been open for quite a while):

Note that selecting a non-air conditioned dorm is a very bad idea in LA in the summer.
Don’t take more than two. I would prioritize classes that are hard to get during the school year.
Any recommendation what will be the easy GE course that L&S freshman can take during summer? I checked that S24 needs to take 10 GE courses in total under the College L&S, and no idea how to select courses. Some online courses are full already.
This is a little old but gives good guidance on ease or otherwise of GEs:
Also consider what cluster he might take so he doesn’t rule out the most interesting clusters by already having taken one of the GEs they cover:

Wow, it is really helpful, thank you so much.
What is her major? And what are her interests?
Also check out freshman clusters - a set of general Ed courses (one per quarter) you take to get four GE credits. Basically 3 classes gives you 4 credits.

If she is interested in taking any of this, then plan the summer accordingly. GEs need to cover specific areas, so pick carefully to not take extras in a given area.
Oh, his major is Statistics and Data Science, maybe more on stem area, I don’t know what cluster he will pick. I will send him the link and check it out.
Orientation is so late in July, that will be too late to sign up summer course.
Thanks for the information.
