Nope, my in-state, local son didn’t receive that email. Not sure if there’s any significance to that. Maybe they really want my son as a student but definitely don’t want him to “get involved”

My daughter too received same email today

Yes, my son received the email today, his friend did not. Not trying to read anything into it though.

Has your son received any other marketing or promotional emails from UCLA?

Not that I’m aware of

Yes, the last 2 he received from UCLA were on 2/16 regarding the opportunity to apply for scholarships and exploring campus life at UCLA.

My daugher an international applicant received the following mails, not trying to read between the lines , but definitely there is storyline or could be just marketing communications

Thanks for applying to UCLA -11th Jan
Achieve academic excellence at UCLA -25th Jan
Get the facts on UCLA’s affordability – 31st Jan – scholarship
Explore campus life at UCLA – 15th Feb
Get involved at UCLA – 1st Mar

my kid got all those as well. I don’t think the UC’s play the same games the privates do…

My kid has too all including applying scholarship.
I thought it is business club so they sent according to major.

We are also in-state and did not receive that email today, but I swear we received a similar email on February 16th? I’m trying not to read deeply into it, but maybe in-state received it earlier?

Those are exactly the last 2 emails we received on Feb 16th. We are also in-state.

it is simply a way of UCLA communication campaign…totally irrelevant to if admitted or not…

I truly don’t think it means anything, it looks like a promo.

We did get the email and are in-state. I still put no weight on it. I really wouldnt worry about if it means something or not.

Marketing. The only email that means anything is one that states your decision is posted in your student portal.

I’m one of the posters above who said my son didn’t receive yesterday’s “Get Involved” email, but I can see he received it at 12:02 this morning. They must have sent them in batches.

My daughter received it yesterday, along with one from UCSB about fin aid. Just marketing stuff I would guess.

He may have opted out or unsubscribed from emails.

There are no games or hidden meanings in these emails. UCLA knows that students have heard from other schools already. Some students are becoming attached to, and may even commit to, schools that they heard from early. These emails are reminders of what UCLA has to offer and that the UCLA decision will be coming soon.
