The 3rd Friday of March is the 21st this year.

yea but UCSD is pretty likely this friday, and they drop together usually, and UCLA student accounts are saying this friday…though less reliable than official admissions, more reliable than speculation. 14th is much closer than historical dates than 21st.

Actually, why do the UCs not want to specify the date and let applicants know in advance their decision date instead of all these speculations? I guess it’s their tradition?

last year was 5ish?

Students have already received notification for Pomona. Not sure if all but some for sure

Gonna be a long UC day today, even if LA doesn’t announce.

I think the 3.14 post on ucla admissions on instagram is a big hint but who knows

Where do you see this? Which instagram account?

Oh never mind - I se what you are referencing. I think that’s more about the fact that today is Pi Day.

The reason that some UC’s do not post specific decision dates and times is that do not want to overload the computer servers with 100,000 applicants checking their admission results and resulting in a crash. (From an admissions representative). Several UC’s servers are utilized by other departments besides admissions and they do want to compromise their access. UC Davis had some server issues during their decision posting this year. UCLA and UCI have had issues in the past.

It may reduce the load, but I’d bet that the portal is being clicked non-stop…

Especially since it is unclear whether date or week # is the key.

True, but I agree once the decisions start posting, everyone will be trying to login to their portals.

10:13, no change…

Hopefully later - today.

It really could be today based on this Instagram post! My son, who graduated last year and worked for the Daily Bruin, said this account is followed by several of his friends at the paper and other official UCLA orgs.

We’ll see…

As a cloud tech guy, AWS and other cloud offerings do allow scaling for load to prevent those kinds of issues but eh, we’ll know when we know.

I noticed this account is followed by admissions. May not mean anything though. This week or next, my last chance for a kid to get into my alma mater!

Is there truly a difference between 100-150K applicants at a UC vs 70K + applicants at some OOS colleges, in terms of whether or not the servers will handle a pre-determined release date? Although, as I propose this question, it also came to mind that EA at many OOS schools will naturally spread this out, to some degree
