UCLA Class of 2029 Waitlist and Appeals Discussion

Yes, LOCI was the wrong wording. I meant write the best statement in the waitlist response.

A post was merged into an existing topic: UC Berkeley Class of 2029 Waitlist and Appeal Discussion

i know that the chance of getting in off an appeal is basically 0, but any idea when these decisions come out?

Last year most students appealing their decision heard in early June.

Is it typically harder or easier to get off the waitlist for engineering students compared to other majors

Anecdotally, just looking at the CC forum, it seems the applicants who have multiple competing offers are from engineering and L& S. So, it can be inferred that the movement will occur in these two schools. However, your choice of major will probably matter.

waitlisted for electrical engineering; what do you think rates are for that

UCLA like all the UC’s does not break out waitlist admits by major so it will really depend upon how many admitted EE majors will enroll. UCLA has had a high yield for enrollment which was for the campus overall 50% in 2024 and 60% for California students.

Do you have data of EE waitlist results from last year from the class of 2028 college confidential

UC’s do not break out waitlist admit information by major. You can look through last year’s waitlist discussion but the student’s posting their admit results are not a true representation of the actual waitlist admits. I only saw a few EE admits last year which were a combination of In-state, OOS and International students.

Just scrolled through last year’s discussion. Was there only 1 wave of engineering waitlist admits?

Yes, 1 wave that posted on CC. Not sure about other social media sites. Historically, there is only 1 wave or a small percentage of Engineering admits. Most admits are in the College of L&S.

is it because they usually waitlist less engineering applicants or they waitlist the same amount as L&S they just don’t admit as much as L&S

The majority of majors and applicants will apply to the College of L&S so the majority of waitlisted students are L&S majors.

2024 data shows 97,110 applicants for L&S vs 35,057 for Engineering.

do you recall any bioengineering applicants who got off the waitlist last year? i know this major is very impacted so i’m trying not to get my hopes up.

I did not keep track of specific Engineering majors that were admitted off the waitlist. You can check last year’s waitlist discussion and other sites to see if there were any Bioengineering admits.
