i just found out professor cho isn’t teaching cs143 for 2009-2010. :(

hmm i’m having some trouble with the days for my finals

right now a good looking schedule will have 3 finals on wednesday

it would be a&a 10 from 8-11, cs 180 from 11:30 - 2:30 then stats 100a from 3-6

a&a and stats don’t seem like they would be that hard so thats why i’m even contemplating doing this, anyone have any opinions?

For all the EE or CS majors, how did you get to enroll in 4AL or 4BL? For spring and fall 09 quarters, they’ve all filled up even before my 1st pass. I will try to get them in the winter, but given the past track record, the odds aren’t very good.

Enrollment times obv. Everyone (I thought) takes 4AL 4BL.

thefrencharmy, i tried all 2nd year to get into 4bl but it was always filled before my first pass

i’ve been a junior the last two quarters

this quarter (fall 09) i got into 4bl when there was 1 spot left (and my first pass was at 4pm the first day juniors could start)

its kind of insane imo they should definitely make the lab sizes bigger, but at least the labs arent prereqs for anything
you basically just have to get really lucky with an early enrollment time

Make some upperclassmen friends to save you a spot in the lab. I’m only taking 12 units each quarter in my senior year so I can save 2 classes for my friends.

^ how would that work? You drop and immediately they sign up for the class?

Yup. Only problem is…if the class has a waitlist and you make the drop-and-pickup exchange, your friend will be the last person on the waitlist if the class is already full.

having friends who are athletes is another plus too - they seriously get like top priority sign-up times ;)

I really hope someone can give me a detailed response to this. =]

I just got my AP scores back. I also have some community college courses. Incoming freshmen here admitted under Electrical Engineering. Thinking about doing EE-BME.

Here’s what I have:
AP Stats
AP Calc AB and BC
AP English Literature
AP Physics B
AP World History
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Environmental Science

All scores = 5.

Also, I have:
2 years of Chinese at a Community College that I started at Level 3 (so now maxed at Level 4)
1 Microeconomics Class
1 Survey of Physics Class
1 Drawing Class
1 English (1st level) class

Thanks so much everyone and I hope to meet you all on campus.

^ So what’s your question?

Chances to get Harry Potter tickets

whoops, my bad. Really sorry about that. Was on AIM while typing that so I forgot to ask the question.

What courses do you recommend I take and why. Maybe lay out the 3 quarters worth of courses that I should take if you have the time.

Thanks. =]

I’m going into EE as a transfer this Fall, but live too far away from LA, so I didn’t want to go to orientation. Now I find out that nearly every class is closed, and I don’t have a PTE number ( which no one even mentioned when I cancelled my orientation). So now, there are only 2 classes which are still open that I have any use for. It seems absurd. What can I do?! Is is possible to crash courses or get on the wait-list somehow?

^ you can email the professors, but they probably won’t reply since it’s too early for PTE numbers. Contact one of the counselors like Mary Anne, she has helped me out before. I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble signing up for upper division classes because people usually end up dropping.

The only lower division classes that I can think of that you might need are EE M16 (Same as CS M51A), EE 2, EE 10, and CS 31 or CS 32. Most of which you can probably hold off on. EE 2 will be needed for EE 121 and the MEMS and Solid State pathways. EE 10 will be needed for EE 110, 110L, which lead to EE 115A and EE 115AL, and the IC pathway. CS 31 and CS 32 can be taken your last year here unless you’re doing the Computer Engineering Option. CS M51A can also be put off until the very end unless it’s required by the pathway you decide on.

I didn’t go to orientation when I transferred because I thought it would be a waste of money and time, and I was right. My friends who did agreed it was a waste of time for transfer students. Don’t worry too much. People end up dropping some classes for various reasons. For example, I am maxed out on my units because I wanted to reserve a stop in classes while I decide what I want to take for Fall. Other people do it too. It sucks, but it happens, and you will do it too.

==================================
what’s up with the forum’s new color scheme?

how is ee103? in an effort to make my schedule more streamlined, i’m planning on taking both ee103 and m16 and 2 GEs instead of just m16 and 3 GEs. from what i’ve read about it, it’s a lot like math 33a, but harder. how much harder is it?

I’m guessing no one can help me? =[

oneking…hsseas lays out a four year plan for what classes to take each quarter for every engineering major on their website, just look for it

Hi im a incoming bioengineering major but im hinking of applying to med school when i graduate. I placed out of english 3 by AP test but i heard its good to take that class anyway for med school. Should i just not take it?

Alright so I really need to make a resume to get started on looking for an internship next summer and I really need some help.

Since I have no outside work experience related to CSE, I guess I just have to put stuff I learned in my classes and that type of thing on my resume.

Does anyone have any tips on getting started with writing a resume, specifically an engineering or CS/CSE resume? Or does anyone have any good sites to look at with good examples or general tips on what to put on a resume?

I’ve never written one before and it sounds pretty daunting, any and all help will be appreciated.
