UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

We had to input all our grades into our application right?
Regardless if they were UC transferable or not right?

I included all courses, some that were only CSU transferable and some that were not transferable at all. Does UC then know which are UC transferable to calculate their GPA?

@kingiceland96
I made a MyUCLA account earlier without UCLA ID number and I called the technical support to link MyUCLA account to UCLA ID number.
They told me, I have two options:

  1. I can link the UCLA ID number to that old account but they have to verify that account belongs to me, so I have to visit the campus office(idk which office) to verify. this process is slow
  1. I can create a new MyUCLA account using the UCLA ID number but I can't use the previous MyUCLA username but I can use the same email address. this process is faster

Did anyone else receive literally no financial aid?? The rough estimate for me is $34,996 a year, but realistically that could be dropped down to like $28,000 if I ignore the other expenses like books, transportation, ucla insurance? i appreciate any thoughts/responses

@AeroDE Cool thank you so much! Im just make a new account lol definitely don’t have the patience to wait till tomorrow morning to contact tech support haha

@oneyear if I were you, I would check the fafsa application to see if I stated the UCLA as a school under the list. Or perhaps you were also one of those people who is also facing the same problem of not receiving financial aid

@Jonathan3498 I have a very similar situation. Except I went to Davis for a quarter. Currently ending my first year of college at a CCC.

@africangirl97 - Same! I was waitlisted for UCLA for psych and Irvine has been my number one choice. If this waitlist thing doesn’t work out hopefully I’ll see you at UCI lol

@thatsmylatte - Me too! Got waitlisted for psych, I finished IGETC but was missing philosophy for major prep, doing it this semester. Someone here @-ed me and said it was a 17% chance

Hey yall, I was expecting to have specific classes listed in my provisional letter, but there arnt any and it just has the general stuff, maintain gpa and have your pattern done. Is this a good thing? I want to drop a math class (differential eq) that I dont need for my major at all to focus on the ones i do need. Is this a realistic thing to do if i contact them, seeing that there is nothing specific in my provisions?

Admitted!!! Major: Biochemistry

Applied: UCLA, UCD, UCB, UCI, UCSD, UCSB

Ok for future reference the University of California website says:

“All college/university courses taken or planned should be listed, regardless of length of attendance or whether the student thinks the course will be transferable and regardless of the type of grade earned (W, AR, NP, etc.).”

lol I was kinda nervous a few moments ago because I included both UC and CSU-only transferable courses in my application. I started to think that maybe I had to only include UC transferable courses.

Admitted but no aid…but Mom/Dad will have my back.

Accepted
Electrical Engineering
GPA - 3.89
IGETC- No
TAP- No
EC: Manager at a tutoring center and publication in a government research lab. Private tutoring too.

@StudentAgain No. They asked you to list all the courses you have taken even if it is ESL, pre-Math, etc. So you have to list all the courses even if it is for CSU or just a local degree.

@bibihcmvn thanks for your response! That’s what I thought too but I guess I’m still shocked about getting in lol

Accepted !!!
Cognitive science
GPA - 3.9
De Anza College

rejected: UCSC
pending: UCSD

I am so so so happy. Now, I have to think about either Cal or LA

Please everyone…remember to release your spots from all schools you do not plan to attend. There are thousands of students waiting in angst for a spot you may be holding while you decide. If you already have several options and know some are not for you, PLEASE open those spaces ASAP. Thank you!

Hi guys! I made a UCLA Fall 2019 Transfers group on FB. The name is just that. Please join!

Can you add a link? I cant seem to find it

@StudentAgain I am only shocked when reading others with GPA 4.0 in waitlist. I do not TAP, no special extracurricular as I must work to support my family. And Berkely denied me althogh I was very confident in my supplemental essay. Compared to that, the insight questions for UCs were written within 6 hours before the deadline when I finished my work at 3 and got home at 4pm that day. However, I feel very lucky when UCLA seems to understand my hardship when my life suddenly changed after emigrating into the US. That’s make me think about whether or not I should attend UCLA even though I paid deposit for UCI already and the Housing there also promise to arrange my Housing Guarantee for my family by June 1st (the deadline for others to apply).

I am just a little bit worry that UCLA would be difficult to get A since some students told me that there are a number of percentage in class will get A, others get lower grades despite of their own score. Not sure if it true. Then UCI would be easier.
