@biscuit4reggie its unbelievable really how insane it all is. I am a UCSB grad and my husband graduated UCSC. It was a different world. A breeze to get in. Have a hard time wrapping my head around the whole thing now. My daughter is our youngest so I won’t have to deal with any more college admission seasons after this. Thank goodness.
@transfergal2019 Congratulations on your acceptance! It’s nice to see more and more anthro majors in general
I see that you’re transferring from PCC --do you happen to be from the 626 area?
Can I appeal if I’m rejected or I can only appeal if I’m waitlisted? People with lower stats got in with my major and my essays were really strong
@Left_hand that sounds like a good idea! I live about 20 minutes from UCLA, are you from the area as well? Maybe dm me and we can exchange numbers
@GoodAfternoonSir sorry man to hear man! your stats were so impressive! maybe you should have applied to economics at cal. higher acceptance rate and more holistic than haas. You could have done econ + law school (more preparation and rigor than haas or pre-bizecon would have given you tbh). Haas just has a powerful network to get into investment banking and consulting, but the classes are pretty easy in terms of rigor compared to the econ program. My haas friends who graduated from haas has told me that haas inflates your gpa which is also a good thing, but in terms of prep probably not the best for law school unless you double major~
Good luck I know you’ll succeed wherever you end up~
I was really rooting for you because I go to ARC/CRC as well with hopes of going to law school.
@UniCoIn you can appeal either way! I got rejected and I’m going to appeal as well but the chances are low. I know how it feels though because I have friends who also got in on my major with much lower stats, and my app was really strong with really strong essays as well.
This is my Provisional Contract:
1/ Maintain Academic Performance
Maintain the grade point average and complete the courses and number of units as reported in your application and in any subsequent course updates. You must be in good standing at your last institution of attendance. Also, if you attended another UC campus in regular session prior to enrollment at UCLA, you must have been in good standing when you left that UC campus. Notify our office immediately of any withdrawals, incomplete grades, drop in academic performance (including two or more C grades, any D and/or F grades, and any C grades in major preparatory classes), or other changes to your class schedule.
2/ Complete Coursework Requirements
Complete the following course pattern by June 2019 with C grades or better: two (2) transferable courses in English composition; one (1) transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning; and four (4) transferable courses in at least two of the following subject areas: arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and physical and biological sciences.
3/ Send Official Transcripts
Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities you attended, including institutions outside the United States. We must receive transcripts of all work completed through fall 2018 by June 1, 2019; transcripts of all work completed through spring 2019 must be received by July 1, 2019. If you attend any college or university during the summer 2019, official transcripts must be received by September 1, 2019, or three (3) weeks from the end of the term. If you are transferring from a California community college or a University of California campus and will complete IGETC or UC Reciprocity, respectively, submit your official certification by September 1, 2019.
4/ Send Official AP/IB Score Reports
Official score reports of results for any AP/IB tests you reported on your application must be received by our office by July 1, 2019. Contact AP at (888) 225-5427 (UCLA’s AP code is 004837) or IB at (301) 202-3025.
5/ Comply with Deadlines
If your official transcripts and test scores are not received by the due dates previously stated, a hold will be placed on your record. This will prevent you from enrolling in classes and receiving services from UCLA.
6/ Submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR)
If you intend to enroll at UCLA, you must accept our admission offer and submit a nonrefundable $250 advance registration deposit, if required, by June 1, 2019. If you are admitted close to or after this deadline, you will have three days from the date of your letter of admission to accept. To do this, visit the New Bruins website at www.admission.ucla.edu/newbruins/tr.
By submitting the SIR, you certify that you understand and agree to comply with all of the conditions of this contract.
Wonder if everybody got the same???
They did not say anything about IGETC.
In their http://www.admission.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/UCLA_TAG.pdf , they did say
IGETC Certification vs. Major Preparation Requirements
IGETC is NOT a requirement for admission to UCLA, though it
is highly recommended for students applying to all schools,
except the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and
Applied Science. To be competitive for admission to UCLA,
students should focus on completing general UC transfer
requirements and major prep first.
Tip: Students are able to use the Summer prior to
transfer to finish remaining courses for IGETC but these courses
cannot be used to meet transfer admission requirements.
Will my admission be ok? Hope so…hik… Thank God for the existence of CCC to chat while waiting. I only need 1 more course to fulfill the IGETC, so far my GPA is good, no change.
Waitlisted
Major: Human Biology and Society B.A.
GPA: 3.73
IGETC: Completed
Pre-reqs: Completed

HI CC USERS AND LURKERS.
The Transfer Center made an official group for us called “UCLA Transfers Fall 2019.”
I’m in the process of ushering members of my group to this new official group.
Please join! We have an introductions thread up and running right now!
@Bibihcmvn yep i got the same exact email
one question
is it fine if we send our official transcript to both ucla and uc Berkley before submitting SIR?
also it seems like ucla didn’t ask for high school transcript? do we have to send the high school transcript at all or not?
@transfer2019stu the acceptance just said TFT but I want my focus to be on screenwriting
@stackofsocks I have that too, which is kind of weird. Maybe it’s because we haven’t technically finished igetc? I know that i’ll finish all of my requirements this semester.
@Bibihcmvn I think “complete coursework” is basically igetc?
Accepted!!!
Major: biochemistry
GPA:3.7
Applied to: UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, USC, LMU, and Boston University
Accepted to: UCLA, UCD and UCI
The rest are pending
Finished all my pre-reqs but not IGETC
I am honestly still in shock and my twin got in as neuroscience too!!!
@lilii99 I SIR’d and MyUCLA shows that I do not have to submit my HS transcripts. You’ll have to send AP scores (if any) though.
@waitlisted2019 Hey! Im also a philosophy major that applied to UCLA! Whats your gpa, and did you have all the pre reqs completed? These are the two main things they look at. They also really like to see improvement when looking at grades throughout the two years in CC, so how were your grades this past year?
@Rayyhzms will you complete IGETC in spring?
@katyamzz No worries! In fact, I was expecting a rejection and I’m totally fine with it because there were some mistakes on the UC application that need to be addressed in my appeal. I’ve gone over everything with my advisor and all of the short 1 sentence fragments of notes my UC professional writing mentor made about my problems constituted about 366 words alone! That’s a lot of problems that were counted and judged as completely legitimate for my application. Again, my writer has been handling appeals for atleast a decade now, and she’s damn good at what she does so I think things are going to turn out great. Heck, 50% of my circumstances constituted 3 of the 4 defining principles at UC Berkeley Haas alone so I have good hopes.
What’s also interesting to note is that unlike other departments like sociology or economics where appeals are sent to the admission appeal committee. Mine will be sent directly to Haas themselves and they will take a look at the application from their perspective. This means my appeal will have a higher chance in being accepted since they’re more holistic and symphathetic to situations. Especially in the case when I had to grudingly inherit my mother’s humble business when she was bedridden for heart problems and I had to pay rent using my FAFSA and earnings I made alone from busting myself on the streets with Uber all the while taking 30 units in fall 2018 while at the same time taking care of children at my aunt’s daycare center, ONLY to give all of my savings to my sister who had some financial troubles and had to work even harder to earn more money just to prevent being homeless.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, I have a bunch of problems I have to address and doing all of this while taking 2 years of work in 1 is just “Godamn Impressive” as my writer told me.
Heck, that’s not even what she was most impressed about. She said that I truly represented the innovation that Haas wants by doing something daring, I cheated the system…
Question the Status Quo - one being my endocrinologist, my primary care doctor and my nephrologist telling me I was physically limited due to health issues in terms of completing these courses. Then my advisor telling me it couldn’t be done; and then admissions telling me the limit was 24 units, but I found a loophole within the system which allowed me to add an extra 3-unit course in spring as long as two of the courses were 8-weeks in length. Not even admissions knew about this loophole. Not even the CHANCELLOR of my CC district knew about this. He talked to the admissions supervisor and said it’s not possible. But guess what, when I finished my first 8 week class, I was indeed set back to 19 units “in progress” while having 3 units “completed”. Since I was labeled 19 units “in progress”, I was able to enroll in 3 more units since the system recognized me being able to as I did not cross the 24 units threshold technically since I was labeled as taking 22 units “in progress” again even though I would be now at 25 units total. The department was just shocked at this and when I left, they were still trying to process what was going on haha.
I understand that you guys wish the best for me and my health, that’s why you’re saying that it’s fine and not the end of the world if I didn’t get into these institutions. But you gotta understand that I’ve gone through hell and back just to have the chance to apply to these colleges. I have stayed hungry for 8+ hours at a time just to work in the library and do what I can to prove I can take the heat. As I said before, I enjoy a challenge, but I also like to have my efforts rewarded at least. So, I will try to appeal and judging by the comments given by my mentor, it seems to me that I do have a chance to show what I’m truly made of.
At the end of the day, I’m just a 19 year old kid who wants to fix my problems by working hard in life. I wouldn’t want to have it any other way because the experiences we receive by doing things the honorable and more importantly, the right way just puts a smile on my face.
