@TatianaF Yes I’ve definitely been thinking about it since I got off the waitlist!! I’m still leaning more towards UCI but then the idea of “When will I be able to study at UCLA again?” comes to mind haha. I’ve also heard that too, I saw somewhere that UCI’s admit rate was about 22% for freshman this year* so it’s definitely getting there in the years to come.
@jjmnxi I also got into Irvine and when I think about the easier pace, I could graduate with a higher gpa and apply to a lot of grad schools with that. As a history major it seems like the better option for me personally.( There is the curious side of course that wonders what would happen if I did get into UCLA lol, high school me is wondering more actually ?)

UCLA is an amazing school with tonss of amazing opportunities, but I would rather go to a school that wants me just as much as I want them. That way I don’t have that feeling that the only reason I get in is because someone they deem better than me said no. Just my $0.02!

@jjmnxi My heart is pretty set on Berkeley. I got an SGR from usc and I’m still waiting on that one too.

@Trashception That’s not a great way to look at it. I don’t think the schools know anymore than 2% of that which makes you who you are. They are judging a paper. Many great, capable people will be overlooked because they don’t know how to put together an application or because they went through struggles in life. Consider the students who are ingenious in just their one subject but underwhelming in others…
The universities don’t know enough about you for you to feel as such. You’re better off feeling confident in your ability and believing that they made a rash decision with very little information. There is nothing wrong with being waitlisted and in attending a school that gave a waitlist offer.

Extracurriculars: a decent amount from HS and mostly volunteering for something I really love in college.
Did essay: Yes, semi-long but just talked about something new that happened between my application and now pretty much.

Got off the WL as a transfer this morning. Super excited but so annoyed that I signed my housing contract for UCSB last night ($350 cancellation fee here we come…), and UCLA hasn’t released the FA package for me yet! Not sure what to do!
