UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Waitlist thread

I think I’ll be committing to UCSD. But can I ask what major you guys are? I’m a bio major. Is that why you’re all leaning towards UCI?

@IBkidonthestreet I have SIR’d to UCI. I only applied 4 campuses, apparently i got rejected by HAAS so I’m leaning towards UCI. They have great business programs too. My major is business admin.

@IBkidonthestreet I committed to UCSD as a Cell & Molecular Biology Major. UCSD has more research opportunities than UCI (if you were wondering). But I’m waitlisted at UCLA so I’m not entirely sure where I will attend for the Fall yet.

I’m a CSE major, and I was waitlisted at SD as well. I’m happy with Irvine, but it would be nice to get into LA.

I’m not even going to UCLA but I wanted to interrupt this thread.

@Bubblesparks What makes you think UCSD has more research opportunities than UCI?

@cloud7 UCSD is #1 university with the most research funding. On top of that, they have over 10 hospitals near campus (UCSD Medical Center, VA, Scripps Hospital, etc). They also have a lot of research opportunities like Scripps Research, Salk Institute, UCSD Research, Scripps Institute of Oceanography (to name a few). UCSD is known for its STEM majors and their research opportunities. I also considered UCI due to the less competitive nature and the lower grade deflation rate. But, UCI does not have a medical center like UCSD.

@Bubblesparks Actually, UCI does have a medical center. I see your point that there are certain opportunities that are around the San Diego area though.

@cloud7 You’re right. UCI does have a medical center.

I know the latest we will hear is by June 3-5th but I’m like already impatient!

Maybe we can get the decision by June 3-8th! Hopefully !!

@ishitak wow, is that really the latest? I’ve been hearing the latest could be July 1st. Ugh the beginning of June would be amazing!!!

@Chikahlove Yea when I talked to the admissions officer over at UCLA she told me they start offering waitlist from June 3-5 till Mid or even end July

OMG that is exciting

^ hopefully, the sooner, the better

Oh please the sooner the better! This wait is killing me

Do you guys write an extra essay in additional info?
If you did, How many words did you write?

Yea, I wrote about 400 words. Basically, what I’ve been doing these past months, accomplishments, etc. What about you?

I wrote 600 words talking about what I’ve been dealing with personally and academically for the past few months.

I wrote about 1200 words lol I was talking about personal story what I didn’t write on original application and accomplishments, why I have to go UCLA and etc.

my only worry is that no one from the 2018 waitlist transfers got off the waitlist, and most of them did not hear back until June 14-15
