No. No other documentation other than the waitlist statement and updated grades will be accepted. UCLA does not accept LOR’s.
From the UCLA website:
To be fair to all applicants, additional materials (including letters of recommendation) cannot be accepted and will not be reviewed if sent. However, there is space provided in the Waitlist Option form to provide updates and additional information. Students on the waitlist are not ranked, and we do not know how many students will accept our waitlist offer. We notify students as early as possible after May 15th, and we will update students throughout the summer.
One B will not be the reason you are not being admitted off the waitlist. I would report all grades but the decision is up to you. They just want to make sure you are not slacking.
A “B” will not prevent you from getting off the WL.
A perception that you are trying to game the system will prevent you from getting accepted and poss kicked off the WL.
UC already has your Spring study list. You are already competitive, there was just not enough space.
Like Gumbymom said, just submit everything and be as transparent as possible.
You could check with admissions but they may not give you an answer. Looking back on previous years, what is more important is how many opt into the waitlist. I would guess around 17-18K waitlisted.
Waitlisted. All A’s 1st Sem Senior Year, plan to update with USAMO and hopefully USACO Platinum if I can get that this month, as well as starting a movie review blog. How do chances look for CS waitlist?
No one can tell your chances since UCLA will accept more students than spots for CS so with a 50% yield (based on last year’s data), 50% of the admitted CS students would have to decline admission before they pull from the waitlist.
Submit your statement and update grades and SIR to another school until you hear.
Our school has semester system and they release grades twice in a year. The transcript as of now has fall sem grades. Should DD only submit those.
Also Current grades are not really reflective of true picture as many tests/assignments have to be graded.
Most waitlisted students will expand upon their new accomplishments since the submission of the UC application in November along with explain how you would be an asset to UCLA as a student.
I experienced loss of family member last fall so my grades aren’t all As i have a B and a C but they are in ap calculus bc and ap english literature (which are very difficult and grade deflated classes at my school) if i explain the reason for the drop in my grades will they consider it? along with some improvements that I did have in my extracurriculars that can show strong further interest for my major?
