UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

Yeah, havent seen in-state yet!

Do you guys know when is international going to be

any word on appeals?

Congrats! What major?

Yeah. Interesting

I’m happy for the oos students getting pulled from the WL. But as a parent of an in-state WL who has paid taxes for 30 years as a high wage earner (and the sum of those taxes likely amount to paying tuition many times over for my child), I would be lying if I said it didn’t feel like a swift kick to the family jewels.

Like so many things in life, it seems to always come down to the bag (i.e., the money).

I’m sorry. I hope your child gets off the waitlist. I was a Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major.

I bet in state will come out too. Maybe oos came first just because they know more about exact numbers bc of the aid thing.

I understand your frustration, but our turn will come. Believe it.

Congrats! My nephew is OOS, didn“t hear from him yet.

I sure hope so. Yesterday my twins both committed to oos schools and we qualify for no aid whatsoever. I’m 55 and will likely need to work until 97 to pay for it all! :joy:

Same here. :sob: I committed to a school that will not offer much aid, praying for UCLA.

The UC’s are now capped at 18% total enrolled OOS and International applicants and all campuses need to comply by Fall 2025, so UCLA is trying to maximize these numbers first. I am sure they will start pulling in-state students soon.

There is an International admit off the waitlist that just posted on Reddit.

That makes sense. Thank you!

Is it likely that this will be the only wave to see OOS students accepted in significant numbers?

Has there been any instate admits?

Got in OOS today! (was in AP testing so I just saw) Major is Linguistics and Computer Science

I get it, lots of parents complained the same. I hope my younger one will not go through all this pain next year. My older one didn“t opt in any waitlist, so we didn“t experience any torture.

I“m paying full in state tution for my older one who is a junior bear, and I need to pay OOS tuition for either Cal or UCLA, and no tax deduction for tuition I paid.

The kids have to grow up and help with college expense, let them find paid job in the summer.
