UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

I counted seven in that first wave last week. So similar to today.

So sorry this has been difficult.

Know that it’s not too late to love back - or at least like - the university that loves you and give it a chance.

I’m offering an analogy below - and please know that it comes from the heart and is definitely not meant to trivialize the agonizing experience of waiting for everyone still on the waitlist.

I’m sharing it in case this perspective helps any waitlisted senior here think about the university they’ve committed to in paper - but not emotionally and mentally - while still waiting for waitlist results:

UCLA is like the very popular person that you’ve been attracted to but they’re not sure if they’re interested in you. But there’s actually this wonderful and nice person, attractive in a quiet way, not as popular, (the college you committed to) but is really sure they like you.

It can’t hurt to spend time getting to know that person who is very interested in you. As you get to know them, you might find yourself liking them a lot and hopefully, thinking less about the person who’s not sure if they’re interested.

I think everyone here is rooting for you Stacie. Your comments have been helpful, positive and humorous and you seem like the type of person who would make any school a better place to attend. As a UCLA alum, I hope you get into UCLA. If you don’t then it’s Westwood’s loss and the gain of whatever school you attend. Love the place that loves you back.

Yup yup we’re team stacie

Also Idk I’m getting a feeling this wasn’t the end. Ik the thread had a lot of admits but a MAJORITY of the waitlisted students at my hs in california for L&S are still waitlisted.

Just hang in there bro. We got this!

I know how you must be feeling. Cheer up !!! Do not loose hope.My kid is on waitlist at UCLA and UCSD. My elder kid went to UCLA and now going to UCSD for Masters so the younger ones want to go either of these two school. Slowly my kid has started liking UC Davis and started looking for roommate. Eventually, we all will settle down and be happy wherever kid go…

Thank you!! Im assuming you didn’t get in today:(

I also have the slightest feeling its not over! Praying for us!

Yesterday we didn’t know what today would hold. We thought the next wave would be on Saturday. So we don’t know what tomorrow will hold either.

Also if y’all look at this message it specifies May 6 was a small wave. And to be very honest judging by how NO ONE at my school was admitted today off the waitlist, I think there’s still hope.

And yea I didn’t get off today :,). I got waitlist correspondence from an Ivy today though, so I don’t feel too bad. But genuinely bro I’d pick UCLA over any university.

Also, my friend emailed them yesterday. They replied today saying that they haven’t made a decision on a majority of the waitlisted applicants, and will post decisions on a rolling basis over June. I’m loving the school that loved me back, but I’m also hanging in there.

Really?? I thought May 6 was one of the bigger waves, probably wrong tho!

And nice!! I’ve been admitted to a school that is as good as - if not better - than UCLA, but people don’t understand that I’d pick UCLA over ANYTHING, as you said LOL.

Haven’t made decisions, or just haven’t released them all? If they haven’t made DECISIONS yet, it could be likely that they haven’t even considered our application yet?

Mhmm could be anything. As I said hang in there bro. If anything, I’m learning major patience from all of this ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  :skull:

Yeah they are really testing us :joy: the amount of patience required for this is insane.

So I called and they confirmed that they haven’t finished looking through all applications yet, so there is hope. @Gumbymom Do you think this is the case - that they haven’t even gotten the chance to look through some applications yet, if you were to guess. I would assume they have made a decision on all applications by now - the no pile didn’t get admitted today, but will be if additional space opens up? Maybe I am understanding it wrong.

I also inquired about the 3 day deadline vs. 7 day deadline, and the operator gave an odd answer. She said the number of days ā€œdepends on each individual person.ā€ Hmm…

Unless you spoke to an admissions officer the individuals answering the phones are not always in the know. Years of experience tells me that they have made all the waitlist decisions but I do not think they have completed admitting all students yet and there are probably more to come.

Regarding the deadline to accept or decline, it should be the same for all admits so not sure to make of that answer.

Well they did give today’s admirably six days, right?

So could it be possible that someone’s application is in the ā€œyesā€ pile, but they just didn’t happen to be in this wave? Or that they may be in the ā€œnoā€ pile right now, but be admitted anyway if space permits later on.

And yeah, I haven’t heard anyone get 3 days.

7, no? I didnt see anyone say 6 today.

I’m bad at the quoting thing here, but @Gilm0re said he had until the 27th. Admitted today, the 21st.

Thats so weird. 7 days or a week from now would be the 28th… why are they suddenly moving from 7 to now 6 days.

Yes, they could be in the yes pile for the next wave especially if several admits decline from the previous waves. I do not know the specific details of how they are pulling individuals off the waitlist and just know waitlists are in place to help with enrollment management which benefits the school only.
