UCLA Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist/Appeals Discussion

Thank you!

I am so sorry, I know I am probably driving you crazy with the 3,000 questions I ask in a day. Just know that you (as well as the others on this thread) are keeping me sane through all this.

has anybody gotten off for just econ? i’ve seen a couple business econ majors, but not sure about just econ which was my 1st choice major

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in! Wondering if anyone out there has heard of someone getting in from the waitlist for School of Arts and Architecture (OOS fine art major, in our case). The program is so tiny, with 60 or so matriculating (and presumably ~18% of that is OOS/Intl. Not sure whether there is zero hope. Any info whatsoever on portfolio majors this year or in past years?

Hi The DianaPrince - Just curious where you got this info. Hoping my daughter (biology) still has a chance. Thanks

I think just based on observations from this thread. All of the one’s I saw were from L&S

@denisefall, I totally understand how you feel.

@Stacie233 is right. I looked at the majors of the people who commented that they got off the waitlist today and compared it to the list of majors at each college.

The caveat is that there might have been majors that were at other UCLA colleges or schools that aren’t on this thread, so my observation is anecdotal at best.

As @Gumbymom has wisely said, it’s impossible to predict trends this year, and I agree with that for reasons such as the FAFSA delay, and other significant developments happening nationwide affecting admissions decisions at all universities.

I suppose one way to look at it is to believe there’s still a small chance until those still waitlisted hear otherwise, but to proceed full throttle with life at the college/university one has already committed to as if there isn’t a chance to be a Bruin anymore. At least, that’s how our family has been trying to handle all this to reduce the worry over the uncertainty.

One interesting observation that I along with others on reddit made, though, (and we could totally be wrong), but there seemed to be a lot of med-related majors today, such as bio and others. There was the occasional business econ and poli sci, but I think the admits today were focused on specific majors.

But then again, not everyone posts their results on these threads, so who knows.

anyone know if there any math majors like stats that got in through waitlist yet?

If they have made all the WL decisions then I hope they start sending denials soon. We would rather know if DD isn’t in the running at all.

They wont send out rejections until July I think. They could care less about students on the waitlist, and their mental well-being lol. Their number one and only priority if fulfilling their institutional needs.

Unfortunately, you are probably right.

One of their institutional needs should be admitting me off the waitlist :100:

No for real, they need to set their priorities straight and admit us

I think they intentionally release early in the morning today to give students ā€œalmost a full day todayā€, if the deadline 11:59 pm on 28th, that would be at least 6.5 days. Correct me if I am wrong, I vaguely remember they used to release waitlist decision in the afternoon/evening, just like they release the original decision.

In 2021, my daughter got into all the UCs and was waitlisted at UCLA. She didn’t get a denial until July but by then, she made her choice and decided either way, she wasn’t gonna attend UCLA as she had to settle her future. I wish everyone the best in coming to a resolution. UCLA is the dream but sometimes it’s best to take control of what you can and move forward. This has been interesting with my son who was reaching for UCLA and confident he would get into UCSB and was waitlisted.

Yes, but the weird thing is, for last weeks admits, they gave a full 7 days. So if someone was admitted on the 17th, they had until the 24th. So it is weird that they moved it down to 6 days now essentially.

Can anyone provide insights on when they used to release waitlists in previous years?

Hi, anyone has idea on ucla appeal ? If decisions came out ? My daughter got rejected and had informations to provide so she appealed…:crossed_fingers:

And also did today’s ucla waitlist decisions come out in the morning ? Some received an email at 6.30am ? Sorry I am just an anxious mom waiting, being so stressed with wl/appeal results :sob::pray:

Hello! I have not seen any appeal results yet. As far as waitlists, yes they came out today morning around 6:30 am.

I think shorter decision time is better for students who are still waiting (i.e. the waitlist could move faster and/or put a closure to this sooner). For those who are still ā€œvery interestedā€, it only take them hours if not minutes to commit; the others are probably happy with the schools they SIR-ed and likely to reject UCLA offer anyway.
