Wait I am so confused about the June 2 INT wave. It came out for the Indian students during their morning, which is evening for us. Did any INTL from North America get off today morning? I don’t think anyone INTL got off from North America yesterday?

We are in the same boat - as well as another student we know. Going to try calling later today. Will share what we learn.

I’m getting the same thing here. I think it may take a couple days?

Yeah - just called IT. No help at all. Said to call Housing but you can’t call them until Tuesday.

I wonder if one can just be added to an application? Two of my friends were admitted in March, so they have already figured out housing. Not sure how this works tbh…

Yeah I’m confused too lol. I could be completely wrong but I don’t think there were any INTL admits today or yesterday in North America at least. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!

@karly_24 and @HopefulBruin7 that seems to be the case - no INTL admits from North America, at least none that were posted here yesterday and this morning.

No OOS either. But the day is not yet over and some people might not have checked their email or portal yet.

The Saturday IS wave was pretty big because many parents joined the Bay area group. Some 12-15 people just from L&S. I would suggest keep your expectation low for acceptance. If It happens, nothing like that .

I agree. Acceptance chances from here on out are pretty low, and folks should start accepting the reality of whatever school that SIR’ed to.

Would you mind to share the link of Bay Area Group? We’re not too far from the Bay, is the group on Facebook or Instagram?

It is Whatsapp group for Bay area UCLA parents.

Been waiting for this!!! Literally stayed on this thread hoping you’d get in! My daughter declined her spot and that was a tough decision, but I wanted this for you so much! I’m just a mama who wants good things for good people!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I totally agree it’s wise for families still waitlisted to focus on where they’ve submitted their SIRs.

Having said that, from a limited data standpoint, I think it’s still hard to predict how many more admits are remaining with June having just started.

Why?

  • Because the waitlist data from years prior to 2020 is not readily available and the 2021 and 2022 waitlist admission numbers suddenly dropped below 4 percent so it’s difficult to determine any patterns or trends prior to 2020.
  • However, in 2020, the last “normal year” before the pandemic, 1,779 or 19% of the students on the waitlist were admitted.
  • And in 2023, a normal year last year, 1,400 or 14% of students on the waitlist were admitted.
  • Several things happened this year impacting UCLA admission decisions, though not necessarily in a negative way for waitlist admission prospects.
  • According to a UCLA newsroom document, applications for fall 2024 first-year admission were flat from last year’s record total (increasing by only 19 applications, or 0.01%. Does that mean that the number of waitlist admits will be similar to last year’s 1,400? Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but logic seems to lean in this direction, rather than toward the waitlist admit numbers in 2021 and 2022.

Other interesting 2024 data from UCLA’s newsroom. Source: UCLA sees surge in 2024 transfer applications, uptick in first-year California applicants | UCLA

  • IS applications were up from 2023, increasing by 1.2% or by 1,545
  • Applications from OOS students decreased from 2023 by 3.7% or by 1,680
  • INT applicants increased slightly from 2023 by 0.5% or by 154

wow, that’s eye opening!

That’s what I thought, too, when I found and looked at the data. I’m not a statistics guru and the data is very limited, so maybe there’s someone else in this forum with the expertise who can weigh in.
I’m just doing amateur extrapolation and trying my best to stay objective and keep my feelings at bay. But I would really love for my IS DD24 to get in because UCLA is her #1 choice (she has committed to a very good UC and has been focusing on that).
Sharing what I find here helps me get through the feeling of being in limbo.
