honestly no data we have now can really prove anything and anecdotes are far from accurate. what we do know is that ucla isn’t done, so until we see that denial we j ride it out. i wish her the best of luck! were all in limbo together
Exactly. There’s still hope until the waitlist is closed or a denial letter arrives. Wishing you the best of luck, too!
My daughter still hoping for an IS astrophysics.
It is better to keep hope with low expectation for acceptance.I think soon there will be wave of rejection. Thankfully, my kid is not that hopeful after the last wave.
Hey Everyone! So I called the admissions office today and the lady said that they estimate the waitlist to go on until August this year. I’m not sure if they say this just to give us a rough idea so we don’t keep bothering them lol or if they genuinely mean it. Considering there were some rare admits around July 29 last year, I’m guessing this might be a good sign? Again, not sure!!
My daughter was in the same situation. She finally moved on in early July and focused on the UC that was her second choice. She never came off the wait-list and was eventually denied in August. Everyone needs to figure out their future and take control back after the next big wave(if there is one). Otherwise, it will just be torture and you won’t enjoy what your other option is.
My apologies. I need to correct this part of the data I provided above. I’m not allowed to edit my post to place the correct info anymore. This data in my post refers to all UCs, not just UCLA, so please ignore it:
- According to a UCLA newsroom document, applications for fall 2024 first-year admission were flat from last year’s record total (increasing by only 19 applications, or 0.01%. Does that mean that the number of waitlist admits will be similar to last year’s 1,400? Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but logic seems to lean in this direction, rather than toward the waitlist admit numbers in 2021 and 2022.
This is the correct info on UCLA’s 1st year applications for 2023 and 2024 - there was a modest increase in applicants. Sources are below.
2023:
Total applicants: 145,903
IS: 62%
OOS: 23%
INT: 15%
Admits: 12,736
Enrollees: 6,585
2024:
Total applicants: 146,250
IS: 63%
OOS: 22%
INT: 15%
Admits: TBA
Enrollees: TBA

So sorry and thanks for understanding!
Thank you so much!! Days after, it still feels so surreal. I visited campus this weekend, and fell in love with it even more (which I didn’t think was possible). September can’t come soon enough.
Since Stacie has got in, more people believe God is real.
Do you live close to LA?
He most definitely is
Yes! I’m in LA!
Currently an IS Business Econ major hoping to get off the waitlist starting to lose hope but anything is possible…
God is good all the time
Then you must have visited UCLA campus many times in the past. Your recent visit must be very different one
Yeah! I have gone multiple times, once before submitting my application in November. I was so nervous back then, but now that I have been accepted, the feeling is completely different. You can now walk around campus and actually imagine yourself…sitting under the sun on the grass, walking to the dining hall with your friends, shopping at the UCLA store.
Keep us posted or create a new post here in Sept. You stolen lots of hearts here, people would like to hear more great news from you.
Will do! Won’t be leaving this thread anytime soon, you guys are all my friends here
God will make you a miracle if you really need one.
I hope you feel excited about the school you SIR’ed.
I have a good feeling about her… and most of the time my feeling is right
