is early orientation first come first serve? I’ve had issues submitting my SIR so idk how it works yet :(

Yup, All hell will break loose June 1st, 3:00 PM.

oh you can’t register till then?

nope (10char).

oh ok cool. do you by any chance who to call for SIR issues? i tried admissions today but they only take calls from 1-4 =l.

Oh, hm. Did you try to email them with your issue?

Email :

UCLA New Bruins NewBruins@saonet.ucla.edu

You may have to contact technical assistance though… I’d actually contact technical assistance & send an email to New Bruins…

thank you! hopefully i’ll get this straightened out and officially be a bruin tomorrow:)!

Shawna, I spoke to the orientation guy who called me tonight and he said we’re already signed up for 206 because were in TSP. :/

Oh, gosh. I was wondering if there were any downsides to joining this highly hyped club. Guess I found that answer =/

The pros DEFINITELY outweigh the cons, though.

I asked if that would have any impact on our not getting the classes we needed, and he said something about allotting a certain amount to each session blah blah blah. I don’t know where he was getting his information though.

Er…do you mind sharing those pros and cons? I tried searching the site, but I couldn’t really find a solid list of the pros or cons. I’m curious, even though I probably don’t fit their profile.

You’re talking about the AAP TSP, right? Just want to be sure!

@Evan yeah. I hear they always have somewhere around 40 seats left over even AFTER the last orientation… It’s not so bad!

Err yeah, the AAP program in general, but if you want to get into specifics, the TSP works too.

I can’t really go into the specifics of the AAP program, but with the summer program, you get a head start on your UCLA coursework. If your EFC is $2,500 or less (like mine) they pay for most of the program. They pay something like $4,900 out of around $5,200 in grants and scholarships. That’s AMAZING. The classes look interesting, and it’s designed to ease the transition from (for most of us) community college semesters to UCLA quarters, as well as the academic rigor of the university.

oh really?? thanks for info Evan! So I take it we are picking our classes on the 6th orientation then? 206? hmmmmm I hope the classes we want aren’t full!

Oh wow, cool. Thanks for the info.

@Mroblivious- most certainly, hope that helped a bit.

@Shawna, I believe so. I’d like to find out for sure if that is our orientation date, and if we need to bother with trying to get in earlier on the 1st. I think they selected that for us because most of the TSP kids I believe will be living on campus (myself included) so we’ll already be moved into the res halls.

All the detailed benefits of AAP are listed on the AAP website… There are extra resources for participants of this program… such as mentoring, tutoring, counseling, etc. AAP is extremely beneficial for transfer students, IMO because we are starting out 2 years late and AAP helps transfers adjust…

I’m pretty excited for TSP!! I know it will be intense but I feel the writing course is just what I need! I am not too confident on my writing ability… I received A’s in community college English courses but I don’t feel that the rigor is nearly University level… My EFC isn’t under 2000 though… :-/
