UCLA internet and midnight food?

How fast is the internet?

and do they have good delivery places at midnight?

The internet is alright. Not that slow, not that fast. Wireless might be slow some places.

After midnight only BruinCafe is still open till 2am. 7 days a week. Some people just order like pizza and stuff from stores nearby and they'll drive it up to the dorm building.

on weekdays there are 3 quick serve restaurants, rendezvous(mexican and fake chinese), de neve late night (burgers, fries, pizza, wings), puzzles (pizza, popcorn chicken, salads, hot dogs) open till midnight, with bruincafe (sandwiches, soups, salads, smoothies, coffee) open till 2am. on weekends the only thing open is bruincafe

In n Out in westwood closes at 1am

It's LA. If you have a car then you're set. If not, walk around or order in. Quiznos, pizza places, and of course the stores affiliated with the University.

The internet is alright. Not that slow, not that fast. Wireless might be slow some places.

Depends on where you live on the hill. My up/down speeds are excellent, but I know some areas are just average.

it really just depends on how many other people are using the connection.

i moved in a day early and the speed was orgasmic. now its mediocre

anyone got any numbers on the internet speeds?
like maybe how fast the speed was when you are downloading a file... in kilobytes/sec.

or maybe run a speedtest....usually shows kilobits/sec

From speedtest.net I get ~10 megabytes/second. The thing is that most servers cap their upload speed far below that.

thanks Nit
also, is that wireless thru laptop?...since that would be amazing
or is that through direct wire connection to the internet?...i.e. blue cable/wire

Ethernet (blue wire)

k thanks man

i think you mean 10 megaBITS per second.

10 megaBYTES per second is like LAN speed.

lol yeah i realized he meant 10megabits per sec...not megabytes

anyways, 10 megabits sounds good....im guessin its like other colleges
my dsl at home is 1.5 mega bits, or slightly under....so its definitely a step up
altho they monitor your internet usage...:(

No I mean BYTES as in it is almost maxing out my 100 Mbit ethernet cable.

Wow ... that's a freakin fast download ...

thats insane fast.

Thats what my brother also gets in his dorm in UT Austin...so its fair to say that all amazing colleges have amazing internet speeds ;)

internet is really fast,
With a cat5 cable i get 92 mb/s download with 45 upload
wireless in sproul is still fast, i get 25 mb/s download with 20mb/s upload

with a cat6 cable i tested just now i get 81 mb/s download and 58 mb/s upload

http://www.speedtest.net/result/468297490.png

another link that registers ping at 2ms, with 88.9mb/s, 55mb/s
http://www.speedtest.net/result/468305487.png
its really fast but speed is unnoticeable from the internet i get at my house
at my house i have verizon FIOS with 10 mb/s dl 2 up

if u game u can expect really great latency/ping, when i use to play CS:source i would average 6 ping on a typical LA server, however YMMV

my friend orders food from enzos, they makes wings and burritos and deliver till one, they bring it to sproul turnaround and i just pick it up and give them money,

Sweet, I can post to CC at amazing speeds.

I might have to pick up a game or something, finally put this "gaming" laptop to more work than just opening a word processor.
