UCLA Orientation Exposed!

Should we bring our own laptop to orientation? I’m in session 202, and it’s coming up soon…

^ I brought mine and it was helpful to look up the schedules online.
Otherwise you’d have to use the computers there or look at these paper lists they have posted on the walls with all the classes.

Only con was that it was considerably heavy since you walk around quite a bit and you had to stow it in the lockers (which a bunch didn’t work) during meals.

If we bring backpacks to orientation, we are going to have to stow them away in lockers?!

When you eat dinner at the Covel Commons they don’t allow bags in so you have to use the lockers or leave them on these racks they have (not advisable).

You can carry them everywhere else though.

quick question- is there anywhere we can stay (on or around campus) after orientation? it’s going to end pretty late and I’m kind of scared to walk around by myself to the car or something.

Does know what “dinner in Westwood” entails? It’s in the early arrival thing haha

I’m sure a lot of people will be hanging around even after campus. Make some friends who perhaps are on campus for summer classes so you can walk around!

I’m somewhat glad we’ll be in the dorms by the time 206 comes around!

I don’t know about bringing my laptop (downstairs)…lol! Shawna, bring yours so after you’re done I can use it! ;P

haha Lee! I have the mini netbook that is only 2 lbs I’ll for sure have on me… YOu can use it… I am not sure if the network adapter is as good as a Macbookpro though… ;-/

UCLA doesn’t want you walking by yourself either. You can call a CSO (Community Service Officer) to escort you to your car. The number is (310) 794-WALK or 4WALK from any campus phone.

The only reason I’m kinda iffy on it is that we’re going to head from LAX to Tustin (to buy the Macbook Pro) and then I’m off to TSP, LOL…I don’t want to be bringing it from place to place when I just bought it. Plus it’ll probably be a while to get all set up and put in all my programs like Office. =/

for sure… you can use mine.

lee- ok so i just tried to pm you to give you my name so you could add me on fb since I don’t know your first name! how will i know you are really you @ tsp! lol do you accept Private messages? you can find me on Evan’s page too.

Hahaha! I hope we’re roomies! John and some of the other staff is going to get back to me next week on who my other roommate is! Have you asked??

I do not have private messaging…I think…LOL…I know your name, HAHAHA.

Oh…I don’t “do” facebook…I have one but I never update it. =/ Only because my younger sister might squeal if I do anything to the parents…meh.

Okay, I fixed that setting…!

Haha. I was going to delete my Facebook, but they said that we would probably need it when school starts. Maybe to coordinate with other students for study groups?

Yeah, that’s probably not going to work out with me…hahaha. =/

Last year, since I was the treasurer for PTK, they told us we HAD to have FB to communicate. Psh, it’s called text messaging. Hahaha.

@arcadefire1027
I’m a mimg major (microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics)

thanks thinkgolden! i had forgotten about that.

I see FB as a good tool in college because I feel facebook is a faster way of contacting people in class than e-mail and less intrusive/awkward than calling someone up (esp if you’re only acquaintances).

But I plan on turning the airport on my Mac off during class haha.

lee- haha received the TSP packet in the mail today… actually received someone else’s packet too… poor guy didn’t receive his packet… I called AAP but they may be closed or gone for the day. what a bummer.
