LogicWarrior,
If you are a Phil major, what do you recommend taking in the Fall? I’m IGETC certified, and have already completed all of the major prereq’s. I have orientation on Friday, and want to plan my classes out beforehand

I am not a philosophy major lol, how would I know what econ classes to take if I was?

I guess your username threw them off, lol.

I should have chosen a more realistic but boring name, like “CollegeStudent”

More like…

CollegeStudent1
College_Student
CollegeStudent101

LOL.

Thanks logic warrior. Who in here is also
planning on majoring in Econ? Can you list the schedule of classes your planning on registering for Thanks! I’m just really starting to panic lol I’m just really excited to finally visit ucla and it’s all finally hitting me :)

Oh haaay, the global studies counselor usually emails me back within 24 hours. If I email on the weekends I receive an automated response letting me know when she’ll be back in her office. My other counselor, though, takes a while longer (2-3 days). Eh, it really depends I guess.

Thanks so much for the response, appreciate it! ^-^! I was actually starting to think that somehow my email didn’t really get sent, lol.

Rheel - are you adding a double major? what are you taking Fall semester?

I’m not adding a double major, no, hahaha. I’m asking her about any advice she had about what to take fall semester (I have about three backups of my plans, hahaha…so three plans really…)

thanks for the help thinkgolden

quick question guys. if i start enrolling in classes now can I still change them on orientation day? or is this not recommended?

@LogicWarrior - Philosophy majors are resourceful. I assumed you just looked up the requirements for her, lol.

@SophyC76 - I don’t think you’re able to register for classes until 8:00 pm on your orientation day. If you’re able to, then you can change your schedule as often as you like. The orientation counselors would probably say it’s not recommended because if you’re not sure that you’re going to need the class, it’s best to leave the spot open for someone who is.

How do you sign up? Do your counselors do it for you/with you or do you just go to a computer by yourself at a certain time (8PM?) and enroll?

what classes did you psych majors sign up for?

Man it seems that all the psyc classes i want/need are closed! theres only like a few open and they conflict with the 2 that i’m planning to take already.

am i allowed to take a class thats not part of my major?

@rpicton

you’ll go to your student adviser’s dorm in rieber terrace and sign up for classes on his lap top, you can bring your own, but you have to sign up with him because sometimes something might happen like it wont let you add and he’ll have to contact admissions right away (your student adviser has a direct line to them)

@AH2008

you need 180 quarter units to graduate, 60 of those have to be upper division, so even during your last 2 years after transferring you’ll still be taking upper division elective classes, and maybe some lower division in addition to your major classes (lower division classes are anything numbered 1-99 [ex: history 22 is lower division], upper division classes are anything numbered 100-199, and graduate classes are numbered anything above 200. all this will be explained during orientation)

All right, thanks for the info.

yeah what are the psych majors planning on taking for fall? i already took Psychological Statistics and Research Methods in Psychology at my previous UC, which are equivalents to UCLA’s Psych 100A and 100B, so i’m kinda confused if they’ll count and i can go ahead to upper division courses.

apparently they open up classes throughout the summer so you guys should be fine
