Yeah @clairebunny23 ! My senior year grades both semesters were also good so that could have definitely played a role in my acceptance too
Accepted for Pre-Communication major in the College of Letters and Science!
Out of state
SAT: 1270
WGPA: 94.11 (4.0)
My school uses a grade scale but it translates to a 4.0
Ranked in the 2nd quantile at my school (however, my school is known to be very competitive)
UWGPA: Idk my school doesn’t calculate it and I didn’t bother to
Until my junior year, I had taken no honors or AP’s. But that year I really loaded myself taking 3 AP classes, 1 advanced class, and 2 honors classes. I took 8 classes in total that year and got an A in all except for one. I think seeing how I was able to load myself with hard classes and still maintain great grades was important for my situation.
Personal Insight questions: Really good. Talked about my entrepreneurial experiences and how I was able to show leadership, my creative side and how I am not afraid to take risks and innovate, reflected on my personal experience dealing with my mom’s cancer and how it fueled my love for knowledge and diversity, my interest in philosophy and pondering the ethics of large corporations.
Ec’s: Part-time job working as a hostess at a restaurant, winner of regional business pitch competition, one of 46/20,000 students selected to participate in national entrepreneurship challenge, volunteer at local Holocaust and human rights museum, started a business club at my school, student engagement coordinator for my schools house system, secretary of my schools chapter of French National Honor Society, member of my schools ambassador program, mock trial, finance program at UPENN Wharton over the summer, participated in a district-wide academic competition between schools
Sorry for any grammatical errors. I typed this really fast.
Final thoughts: I was not expecting to get in. I was waitlisted at UCSD, and even that was pleasantly surprising. I always saw the UC system as having a heavy focus on stats and they don’t superscore so I thought my SAT would bring me down. My personal insights were really authentic and raw, connecting my personality to the work I’ve done in school, extracurriculars, and on my own time.
Son rejected oos engineering.

Last year there was some movement off the waitlist in June and July so definitely still a chance.
I set up my portal right when the portal opened up today. When I logged in it said said something like “There was an issue with your application portal. Staff have been notified and are working to fix it”. Does anyone know if I screwed myself by waiting to set up the portal or does it not really matter for admission decisions?
@pilgrim CCS usually informs concurrently or very soon thereafter. Though given the current situation, maybe there’s a small delay. Maybe you can have your student check in with their department head who was in conversation with them during the CCS application process.
waitlisted
I was also accepted Statistics and Data Science (2nd major)
1st major was CS
4.3 W gpa
3.9 UW
33 ACT
god bless
Just fyi, you can appeal a UCB rejection but not a waitlist and you can appeal a UCLA waitlist but not a rejection. Odd but that’s what it is.
@pilgrim Don’t need to wait 'til tomorrow…we just received an admissions email for CCS.
Don’t give up hope, check out Post #185 for wait list stats
**UC waitlist information:
For freshman students:
Berkeley, Davis, Los Angeles and San Diego will only allow appeals from students who were denied admission. Applicants offered a waitlist space may not appeal.
Irvine will allow waitlisted applicants to appeal only if they opt-in to the waitlist. If a student’s appeal is denied, they may remain on the waitlist.
Riverside, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz will review all appeals, whether an applicant is on the waitlist or not.
Merced is not using a waitlist.

Check the Perm number or UC App ID…it is one or the other & they are different numbers. The portal might be using the wrong Perm or App ID in the wrong section…double check…just enter one of the correct App ID or Perm #…good luck!
