This was a warning sent to me by another frequent CC poster regarding Student Hub:
**I am concerned with the Facebook pages set up by the “StudentHub” entity. I contacted the UCs about it when StudentHub first set up “official” 2024 pages and, in response, each UC made their own FB Class of 2024 page that a student can join by clicking on the link on their acceptance portal.
This StudentHub group is adding more non college students to their pages to make it look like their “official” page is the more active page.**
Please do not post any personal information on this FB page.

I was accepted, but I have not received an email from ucsb that has any information about a facebook group (or any email about my acceptance period). Has everyone else gotten an email? I just want to know in case I should email the admissions office or something.
@needinfo no, my daughter hasn’t received any email from UCSB after being admitted - she only saw it in her portal. I don’t think they have created an official FB group that I could see. There’s only that one that @sassycassie5896 mentioned but that is not run by UCSB and I would be cautious about posting there.
Does anyone know the chances of getting a double vs triple dorm as a freshman? I don’t care too much if I have to stay in a triple but I am curious about how many people get either.
@Gumbymom thanks for your reply! I was rejected, but i dont see an option to appeal? Would I just have to write a letter of appeal and mail it to the school with other documents?
@user32tik2332: According to the appeal instructions: ** If you are eligible to appeal, the “Appeal” tab will appear at the top of your UCSB Applicant Portal.**
If you do not have the appeal option, then you should contact UCSB admissions and find out why. You may have not met some of the UC eligibility requirements or reported something wrong which would make not make you eligible. I would find out first before drafting an appeal letter.
Accepted at: Cal Poli SLO, SDSU, Loyola Marymount, Baylor, TCU, Clemson, Gonzaga, UC Davis (with the exception of SDSU and UC Davis, she had great scholarships from the other schools)
Daughter will gladly go to Cal Poly SLO, - Go Mustangs!!! - to major in Math. She eventually would like to become a single subject teacher for secondary education
Hey guys, I got accepted into ucsb as undeclared but I want to major in computer engineering. I was wondering if it’s a good idea to try and change my major from within the school or just go to cc and transfer out to a UC.
P.S. I was waitlisted at ucsd and the only other college I am waiting on is UCI.
@Arc1314: There is no guarantee that you will be able to switch majors even if you complete all the pre-req courses. You need to make a decision, would you be happy at UCSB without being a CE major? If not, then consider one of the schools that you have a direct admit or go the CC route.
Just realize the CC is not a guarantee either since UCSB does not accept TAG for Engineering majors. I would wait until all your decisions are posted first, UCI may come through.
Does anyone know the best way to get to know ucsb aside from calling the office for student life? I tried calling yesterday to see if they could talk to me about their campus but the office is closed. The financial aid package was really good so I want to see if I like the rest of ucsb before I see if I want to SIR there.
@ripadmissionflip what kinds of information are you looking for? Make a list of questions and post them here. Maybe some of us can help paint a picture of what life at UCSB is like.
