@ShuttlepilotND hey! Just curious: Can transfers live in any of the residential dorms on-campus (Santa Catalina or tje Manzanita Villages for ex)? Or must we live in the apartments?
I’m currently at UC Merced and I love living in the dorms! Idk if i’m ready to live in one of UC apartments UCSB offers as a housing options.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Declined admission for fall 2016
major: economics
gpa: 3.86
igetc: yup
tag: didnt attend community college until sophomore year so dont qualify, otherwise id have it
pre-req: had them all except calc
ecs:Did a year of NROTC Marine Corps, charity work, worked 40 hours a week throughout summer and school year
Honestly I’m pretty stunned that I didn’t get in, I talked to my transfer counselor and she said she hasn’t seen anyone with a sub 3.4 gpa for economics that hasn’t gotten in the past several years. Feel pretty shitty right now because this was supposed to be my safety school so now I’m waiting on UCI, UCD, UCLA, UCSD, UCB, and USC. Congratulations to everyone who got in
@“Darth Cornholio” I wouldn’t worry too much. I can almost guarantee you’ll be accepted to at least one of those schools. Hang in there, friend.
@“Darth Cornholio” I’m pretty sure you were rejected because of the Calc Pre-Req you didn’t fulfill. You can see people who got into Berkeley in last year’s thread but were rejected by UCSB, and that’s specifically because unfulfilled Pre-Reqs.
I wouldn’t be too worried man, I’m sure you’re going to get into several of the schools you’ve applied to–and you’ve got a good shot at UCB, UCLA, and USC as well.
Admitted to my second choice major! (Pre-math and statistics)
Date of admission: today! I checked the portal at about 10:15AM
First choice major: pre-econ & accounting
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: yes
Pre-reqs: missing calc 1 & calc 2
ECs: honor society, dance club, some volunteer work
Would someone mind chancing me? My decision is STILL pending and I’m getting pretty nervous.
Major: Pre-biology
UC GPA: 3.21
TAG: No
IGETC: Will be completed after spring
ECs and Work: Working as a pharm tech, volunteering at a hospital, and a lot of random volunteering
Schools Applied: UCSB, UCD, UCSD, UCI, UCR, UCSC, CPPomona
Accepted: UCR, UCSC, CPP (the rest are pending)
I know my GPA is low but I definitely have an upward trend of grades (hopefully they take that into account?)
@fightonRT How are your Pre-REqs tho?
i think if you have your pre reqs completed i think you should be a good candidate especially with your ECs. still pending as well
If you guys mind chancing me as well that would be awesome!
UC GPA: 3.55
Major: History
Pre Reqs: done by spring, no TAG
IGETC: completed
ECs and Work: not that many, worked for over 5 years, first generation college student
Applied: UCI, UCSB, UCR, UCLA
Accepted: UCR
Completed math and enligh before spring semester, however there are two history classes that arent offered at my college but their on assist.org, these classes are offered at my another CC that were sort of linked to. However, its like 20minutes away from my CC, do you think they will count those classes against me even though those classes havent been offered at my CC for 2 years +?
Any feedback is awesome
@Calabrese95 you should get into UCSB for sure! I know very little if anything of the others
the History major at UCSB has no pre-screening for pre-reqs. You have a high GPA and your IGETC is complete.
Can’t wait for you to get in! I’m sure you will
I thought calc was a pre req for economics at every UC. I’m currently taking applied calc and got accepted to UCSB because somehow that one class articulates to the two classes you need at UCSB. Personally, I don’t expect to get into any of the other UCs, unless somebody knows something that I don’t.
Thanks hopefully they hear your words :)) have you gotten in yet or are you still pending?
Accepted for Pre-Chemistry!
GPA 3.96 (with 5 W’s)
IGETC: Completed with AA this spring
Pre Reqs: Will complete second year calc this spring. Everything else is done
Extracurricular: SI Leader, ER Admitting for past two years, Track and Field Team are my main ones.
Did not receive a good financial aid packet though. Only got a 3,000 UCSB grant. Idk how UC’s select which students get the most aid but apparently GPA is not one?
@Heidegger my prereqs will be completed by the end of the spring semester.
@Carlosaavas I think it’s all about your income and dependency status.
@Carlosaavas Congrats!!
I hope thats not the case, listed as a dependent even though I’m pretty much on my own. In any case I hope other UC’s are able to give me more. WIll not able to attend UCSB, Waiting on UCLA, UCI and UCLA
Thank you! Btw it was for my alternate major, Biochemistry was my first choice for UCSB
@Carlosaavas If your parents are filing with the IRS and they list you as a dependent then it’s their income that factors in. It’s not exactly a fair system. How close are you to being 23? Once you’re over that age your parents no longer factor in.
@Calabrese95 No prob! Best of luck, although I’m sure you will get in! I was admitted on the 22nd!
