UCSB Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Has anyone received thier financial aid offer?

@ucdenied420 unsolicited advice: live on campus for your first year as a UCSD transfer. The Village is hella swanky, always lit, and a good way to meet other transfers. It’s pretty hard to meet people living off campus since the UTC and La Jolla areas are the exact opposite of a student ghetto.

Hey so does anyone know which housing would be better? The San Joaquin , which is the brand new one, or the Santa ynez one?
Thank you !

Anyone going to UCSB this Friday for Transfer Friday ???

@Panorama14

It looks like it will be raining this Friday as well and I already booked my hotel. God Dammit.

Got lucky and cancelled hotel with full refund. Whewww.

@BlackPlasma The official financial aid one? No. Just the unofficial one. Are we supposed to? Because it would be nice to know with certainty what I’m getting.

By unofficial do you mean aid estimator where you put in income information?

@blackplasma I mean the one on the portal. When you sign in, at the top it says “Check My Financial Aid Status” and then when you click on it it says “View Unofficial Financial Aid Award Letter”

I just got it right now. My net cost is like 10k.
@100789

@BlackPlasma Same. It seems like that’s what a lot of people have. Are you Blue&Gold eligible?

@100789
Yea. Though my situation is tricky. I graduated HS in 2013 and got cal grant b, I only recieved 2 years worth in CC but I did not submit Fafsa on time in my third year and it got lost somehow. I just checked and it said I was awarded cal grant b again but I had to fill a questionnaire about when I graduated H.S and all that. My years remaining say 0 idk if thats because my account had a hold on it or not due to the questionnaire I just submitted. It says it takes a week to process.

@BlackPlasma Interesting. I don’t know how all of that works, tbh. I’m kind of lost at sea with all that lol

@100789
yea its a really complicated situation lol

@edawnc20 if your appeal doesn’t work and you’re willing to wait another year I strongly recommend you TAG. If you have your English and math requirements done already and a 3.2 overall there’s no reason you won’t be accepted.

Anyone physics major transfers here what was your GPA ?. I plan on applying in the fall but I’m worried my GPA is not so good.

idk about physics but obviously gpa is an important factor along with prereq and igetc completion. Depending on how competitive the major is at the specific school will determine how high of a gpa you will need to get in. For example, Cal Poly has an amazing and very well-known architecture program, which makes it more sought after by applicants, and hence the gpas of accepted students will be higher. Go back through the thread and check out the stats of physics majors who have been admitted/rejected and compare. good luck ! @hamsterperson95

Anyone gotten the Facebook app invite for UCSB students? I have already SIR’d and haven’t gotten anything on it and it says my UCSB umail account is not a recognized email address.

Which transfer orientation date is everybody doing?

@HeideggerNSartre

I’m prob going to do either Monday or Tuesday.
