I’m really confused about why UCSB let some of know earlier than others. Was anyone rejected in the first wave?
@AtlasShrugged23 I don’t understand comments either and was curious. Hope you get in!
@JustgotintoUCSB I put all in before original deadlines. I even went back to UC tag website but under UCSB it is still showing blank regarding decision. I have 3 more long weeks to find out…hopefully sooner!
@UCbound77 you have to update your newest grades into UC admission application. Fortunately, I have a semester system so did that as soon as I got grades in January.
@AtlasShrugged23 atlas shrugged is a book by ayn rand who was a supporter of laissez-faire capitalism
@lexluther96 yes, a few people in the thread were rejected on the first day. By first wave do you mean the first day? People started hearing back the day after - the 22nd. It seems to be random, i TAG’d for ucsb and heard back on the first say, but i think iv’e seen others in the thread who TAG’d as well who haven’t heard back - although we can’t know if they satisfied all of the requirements or not. Santa Cruz’s admissions decisions have been pretty random too
@lexluther96 Also, when did you hear back from UCSD? I think you and i are both phil majors but you have a higher gpa. I’m still waiting
@phil067 March 11! And I have a 3.93
@lexluther96 That’s awesome. good luck wherever you decide to go
@phil067 Hey thanks! You too!!
@Cambriaflygirl yeah in that case you have absolutely nothing to worry about loll even if you’re not a TAG applicant your gpa is pretty competitive for your major. Id say around 25-30th percentile
@JustgotintoUCSB thanks for the feedback!!!
Found out that I got denied because I am taking math this spring, as oppose to it being finished in the fall. Even though that still makes one eligible, I was told that it was why I was denied, even though I am a very strong candidate. The counselor urged me to appeal the decision, once I complete my math course. Wasn’t thinking of appealing was just curious as to why I got denied, but she informed me that since that was the reason, the chances of me winning the appeal “are very high,” once I get that math grade to them before June 15.
Major: Pre PolSci
GPA: 3.24
@DMoney9 definitely appeal. That’s kind of a strange thing why they denied you but nevertheless appeal what’s the most you could lose at this point!
Thanks! My guess would be they are going through applications by school because I know a few people at my school all heard back on the same day. Either that or maybe by location. I did apply before the priority deadline.
@bigtawm I don’t think it’s by school. I’m the only philo major from my school who has heard back from any UCs.
Got in several weeks ago. TAG’d to UCSB with an Economics major.
@DMoney9 how do you know that the reason you got rejected was because of that? I’m currently taking math right now instead of finishing last fall and I’ve been accepted.
@futurelawyer88 I called and I asked them. She said that it showed I hadn’t taken a math since HS. I took one my first year in college, but it was not UC approved, it was just a refresher course. She said that when most people do that with their math, they don’t complete it. I had also listed in my original application that my math was to be finished by fall, but with the TAU I extended it to be finished by spring, because it’s an online course where I have a year to finish it. So I can see where she is coming from.
@DMoney9 Wow that’s strange… I’m kind of in the same boat as you though. This is my first math course since high school. I think the problem was that you extended the completion date to spring instead of fall. You should definitely appeal if UCSB is your dream school! I think they would grant you it.
