@Panda100 Yeah Im California resident from San Diego :). So I’m assuming your out of state then? I think it might be different, not sure maybe you should give them a call?
Does everyone get the Cal Grant? I don’t think so, right? My school automatically submits our GPAs, and I have a 3.93, so I would have gotten it if I was in the correct income bracket, yes? Man, I could really use it
@lexluther96 Your a california resident right? As far as I know, when you submit your fafsa, it also sends it to the cal grant website. I think you can also manually submit it yourself. Not sure how it works though, for other schools like UCR or UCSC I wasn’t given cal grant on my award letters but the “University Grant” and here for UCSB I didn’t get that grant. Income wise I wouldn’t know to be quite honest. My parents are divorced, and my brother sustains our family, but he’s not my legal guardian so technically the income in my situation is 0.
@Luis77777777777 Weird. I don’t know why you didn’t get it.
@Luis77777777777 Yes, I am a NY resident. But, does UCSB give you financial aid?
The GPA verification form is important too… I know my CCC automatically submits them, but other schools might be different.
Here are my awards:
Unofficial Grants and Scholarships$5,920
Federal Pell Grant $5,920
Unofficial Work-Study Eligibility $3,000
Unofficial Loan Eligibility $12,500
Direct Loan Subsidized $5,500
Direct Loan Unsubsidized $7,000
Unofficial Total Aid$21,420
UCSB contributes $0.
@Panda100: Since you are not a California resident you are not eligible for Cal Grants and the Blue and Gold Scholarship which accounts for the bulk of aid given to in-state students. You are only eligible for Federal aid.
It does look like you go some grants/scholarships (free money) but that is probably the extent of the aid you will receive from UCSB. Most OOS students should expect to be full pay at the California UC’s.
@lexluther96 either way Im happy ^^ the only issue is getting the rest of the money for the apartment lol. Not looking into getting a loan right now, but I definitely want to come here.
@Panda100 Yah California resident so it helps. The only difference is that 12,500 money you got offered a loan for, Im getting that from a Cal Grant. Other than that, I got the same offer
Has anyone that has been accepted get an email from UCSB about registering for on-campus gaucho transfer Friday event?
Thank you for giving me that information which is really helpful.
@PUGA17 Yes, I got one, I am not going since I am in NY now. Is it necessary to attend?
@Panda100 Have you been accepted? I received this email but i’m still pending
@PUGA17 Yah I got the email, but Im still deciding on which day to go. Its about 4 hr drive from where I live at.
I got accepted for pre-bio
I’ll be going to transfer day if I don’t get into UCLA–
I like that they are having several ones instead of one huge event
Any engineering major got their decision yet?
I’m still pending for EE… I can’t believe SB took this long to respond (I thought they would be the first to announce).
Same boat, I’m mechanical engineering and still no response.
Just got notified today that I wasn’t accepted even though I TAG’d with all requirements met. I called them to ask why and it turns they had forgotten to include my academic renewal for a semester, bringing my GPA down. They said I should immediately appeal but that they view them on a first come first serve basis and so I should know the appeal decision by late June. Not sure if I should feel good or bad
@Zer0xfourD @jaleshaiker Son was accepted to UCSB (CS Major) on Monday, 4/24. Good Luck!
