@Luis77777777777 Since the end of March
Where can i find my UCSB net ID?
@Luis77777777777 I feel you on that. Getting into debt is something that I can’t fathom right now. I’m only 19 years old! I am not sure how I’ll deal with 50k+ in loans after college. /sigh. I hope it all works out for you. I’m doing my best to work it out right now!
@JustgotintoUCSB I heard there’s more of a social life in Isla Vista, which I believe is considered off campus if I’m not mistaken. Maybe there are some single rooms there?
@futurelawyer88 I suggest you call the school then if you submitted your FAFSA and everything. You don’t get the net ID until you SIR.
@ccstudent1517 Same I hope the goes for you as well. Its because my whole issue right now is I’m planning on going straight to graduate school right after getting my bachelors and I’d rather wait to get the loan till that time.
We can’t see our FASFA until we SIR? That doesn’t seem right
@futurelawyer88 I’m going through the same problem! But when I go to check my financial aid status it says it has been received but no estimate pops up! I got admitted April 17th though. I’m going to call monday because I know that they’re probably going to ask for the tax transcripts and I know for UCR & UCSD they’re due monday!
@futurelawyer88 The FAFSA is different form lol. The UCSB net id you don’t get until you SIR. You should be able to check ur financial aid unofficial award letter on the admissions portal. I suggest you call the school.
@Luis77777777777 I got around 22k in grants and Im not planning to take out any loans but ill be working to cover the rest. I doubt ill have any left over.
@Luis77777777777 Oh my bad, I just realized you said whatever is left from the tuition… Yeah ill have some left over but it’ll only be enough to cover part of housing… I just don’t wanna be working like a slave to make ends meet. Since UCLA rejected me, I’m having a hard time choosing between UCSB UCSD CSULB or CSUN…I live in Northridge so CSUN will be the most ideal but I really don’t wanna go there. Money is the issue; I’m going to meet with a counselor to determine which school will give me the most aid.
@whatislife5 Yah I got the same amount or maybe 23k. Thats what Im hoping to do if I can work full time and part time job starting May all the way till September and get a work study job I should be fine. Well for me personally, Im from San Diego and I like it here but I wanna go and see other places since Ive been here my whole life. Another thing is UCSB is perfect for my major and Ive heard its really great ambience there with nice people.
I was interested in UCSD, but from what I heard from a few friends that go there the social setting isn’t that great ;/ and I honestly wanna experience little of both. Worse comes Ill just get the loan but ill try to get a little bit.
If I may ask whats your major? Im a Sociology major
@whatislife5 Maybe you should visit the schools? I think your literally in the middle of all the schools and long beach is close to you. Also as far as Im aware I think UCS offer more grants.
just submitted housing applications for university owned apartments!
with apartments, yearly cost would be around 32k. with residence halls, it would be around 39k.
IF you are bringing your car then don’t do residence halls because they charge for parking every ‘QUARTER’ about 600$, Yes. EVERY QUARTER NOT EVERY YEAR LMAO.
For the price, I’m choosing apartments
i don’t have access to the housing application
anyone else have the same problem?
Did anyone else appeal? Not sure when appeal decisions are coming out
@fakeman200 I also did an appeal. We should make a separate thread for transfer appeals.
Did anyone receive financial aid status?
@Tomiscoming Ya…probably less than a week from when I got my decision.
Trying to decide whether to go to UCI or UCSB. Help? UCI=more interesting classes for my major, but I already live in Irvine. UCSB=fun school, less and boring class options for my major plus I have to get B or better in Pre-major courses in order to actually get into my major.
Thoughts?
@conflictedtransfer bro im in the same situation as you except I made up my mind. I lived in irvine for 7 years transferring from ivc. I got into both ucsb and uci and submitted sir to ucsb. Irvines a beautiful affluent city but its time to gtf o bro for broader experience and white girls. Follow me u wont regret sex on the beach
@JustgotintoUCSB omg hahahaha. First of all, I am a girl…but honestly thanks for that input. I do need to get out of irvine even if I am nervous and not 100% sure.
