UCSB Fall 2018 Transfer Thread (Including TAG)

@alexj31 I was accepted and I was pol sci! (was because I just changed it to History of public policy)

@chocstraw hey I remember seeing you on last year’s UCLA thread. I’m in the same position as you - I got a B in calculus 2. I’ve been worrying about how much that might hurt my chances for UCLA as I don’t recall seeing anyone on the thread that had gotten in with B’s in pre-reqs but that might be purely coincidence. Hopefully we get in though I’d say you have a solid shot

@ladykin123 what do you mean by she is a ucsc?

ACCEPTED

Major: Econ/Accounting
GPA: 3.66
Local: No, Orange Coast College

Accepted: SFSU(marketing), CSULB(marketing), CSUF(marketing), SDSU(marketing), UCSB(econ/accounting)

-I don’t know which school to go to
-Too many options
-Any recommendations?
-The fact that Econ/Accounting Transfers have to take Econ10A and pass with a B in order to get into the major stresses me out.
-i heard Econ 10A is super hard and competitive. I’m concerned it will feel like an econ major and less of a business major at UCSB. I wanna have some time to enjoy myself instead of stress on econ all day. What do you guys think?

@SofiSana she is a ucsc’s student right now

@Charlie117 Definitely doesn’t go by order of submission. I got my acceptance yesterday and I literally submitted my app on the last day hours before the deadline. It has to do with majors. A lot of us psychological and brain sciences students got our results yesterday.

@Flurkz the 70% admit rate for your major is a bit deceptive. But still, you GPA is 75th percentile which makes you competitive. And for TAP, correct me if I’m mistaken, but doesn’t it only apply to one school that you choose? So if you’re TAP certified for UCLA, it wouldn’t have any effect on UCSB or any other school right? That being said, I definitely think it has to do with the math requirement. From what I heard, UCSB is very strict about the math requirement being finished before spring. A CC’er on another forum said that a UCSB admissions counselor told him that they usually reject students for attempting math in their final semester.
For what it’s worth, you can appeal and if you think that you’re going to get an A in the stats class, explain that you’re excelling in the class rn.

haven’t heard back yet lmao
CCC (Pasadena); in honors transfer and pathways programs
major: psychological/brain sciences
GPA: 4.0
TAG: no (have TAP for UCLA)
IGETC is done but i’m missing a couple of pre-reqs (UCLA is the only school i have all pre-reqs done)

UCSB is lower on my list but i’d really like to receive my decision :confused:

@choukevin I know plenty of people that got in with Bs for Calc II for Econ. If you have TAP and that’s your only deal, it’s gonna be fine. The problem is that UCLA stats major became WAY more competitive, so if that’s your backup, it might not necessarily be a backup anymore. I’m honestly not sure I’m going to get in, even with TAP and some pretty good ECs

Got in yesterday, English no tag 3.5 GPA, TAP

Still pending for UCSB

Major: Anthropology, cultural
GPA: 3.69
Applied: UCLA, UCSD, UCSC, UCSB → all pending
SJSU, CSULB → all accepted
TAG for UCSB
TAP for UCLA; will be done in spring quarter
IGETC done
AA-T in anthro done by this quarter
ECs: work; nothing much
3 years in CC so far
Got an F my first quarter in ECON but retook it and got a B

Counting on UCSB to accept me since I don’t think I can get in the other schools. Personal essays were OK; I did them last minute and applied for admission like 2 days before deadline. Fingers crossed!

@Sebgard13 HMU !! Let’s play rn!

I met face to face with an academic counselor today and he said 70% of ALL applicants (freshman and transfer) found out yesterday. Guess I’m just part of the unlucky 30%

@Sebgard13 bro i searched you up but it says I can’t find you ? Add me M3__CHRIS ( everything capitalized and 2 underscores )

When does UCLA come out?

@fullmetal703 late april but the exact date is not confirmed

check out https://■■■■■■■■■■■■/uc-transfer-application-timeline/#decisions

@choukevin seems odd doesn’t it?

@chocstraw why wouldn’t you get in for econ? With TAP, all major prep completed, good GPA, and good ECs you should be good for UCLA

@fullmetal703 I think late april is standard for UCLA, LA and Berk are usually the last ones to notify for admissions…it’s just a waiting game at this point I can’t wait any longer :((

@chocstraw lol same here
