UCSB Fall 2018 Transfer Thread (Including TAG)

Congrats Hisorymajorr!!! I hope I make it too, im patiently waiting to hear back.

for those who were accepted prior to April 1st – how long did it take until you were able to see your financial aid award? All i get is the green checkmark and the date it they received my FAFSA

@mavsp1 Less than a week after getting accepted.

@mavsp1 I emailed them today regarding financial aid and they said it’ll take ~5-7 days. Maybe you would have better luck calling? They sent me 2 emails and the first one said they were giving me 33,000 dollars in financial aid. Then 20 minutes later sent me an email saying it was for the wrong person and to wait until the unofficial letter is posted… The email is addressed with my name though… They are teasing me…

@derncsm I posted the contact info of the guy who deals specifically with financial aid for transfers at UCSB earlier in the thread. He processed my package on the spot and I was able to access it online later that day. I would try calling him if it continues to be a problem

Does anyone know where to find their UCSBNetID? I need it to sign in to check my Aid status…can’t find it anywhere. Thank you!!

If you said you’d complete IGETC in the application, then yes, it could definitely affect your admission. Meaning, you could get rescinded, if accepted.

I applied to UCSB for Fall 2018 and I’m currently waiting for a decision as well. I found out today (yes, from a reliable source) that UC will more than likely be extending transfer decisions through May this year. As there are many qualified transfer applicants. I’m hoping sharing this information will somewhat better inform the other students patiently waiting for a decision. It’s an extremely nerve wrecking time, but I wish everyone good luck!

if I make an update to my appplication in terms of adding classes, should I just update in the application or call someone from admissions?

@Skepta you should do both. Definitely call someone from admissions though!

At this point, send email to each UC. The TAU in April is too late.

What is everyone planning to do for housing? I’m not sure if I should rent out an apartment in Isla Vista or get a university apartment.

For those of you who got accepted on the 20th, how long did it take before you were able to view your financial aid award?

@SmartJarhead I got accepted on the 20th and got my financial aid award on the 22nd. It gave me a date before decisions were even out.

@chanel im thinking of going with the university aprtments about (700/month double occupancy or triple occupancy ). maybe senior year try and live in IV. WBU?

@ChaneI Planning to live on campus my first year so I could meet new people and live off campus senior year. Pretty sure off campus is way cheaper than on campus if you share it with a few people.

@chanel @lesbehonest
yeah im doing the same. Living on campus/university apartments. IV’s cheaper but I need friends first LOL

I’m planning on getting an apartment in IV with three other people. I originally wanted to get a university apartment but two of them are a couple and want to live together and I don’t think university apartments would allow that. I’m not looking forward to apartment hunting and signing a lease but at least it’s cheaper

Decision pending
Major applied under: Anthro
Classes missing: Anthro 3

Chance me??
I just completed another 8 week course exactly today and the grades will be very soon. Should I add the A in to boost my gpa to a 3.1??

My financial aid award letter just got posted. Was accepted on the 2nd.
