@AyGrey Did you tag?
@cmor6317 Nope just a regular transfer.
@AyGrey if you didn’t TAG then I’m pretty sure they mean over all your terms at CC. So yeah 3C’s would technically be fine.
@rorschwack Okay! Thank you so much
For TAG, they basically say:
- Earn an overall minimum 3.20 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework by the end of fall 2017 AND maintain a minimum overall 3.20 GPA through the end of spring 2018.
- Earn a minimum 2.0 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework in the fall 2017 term AND earn a minimum 2.0 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework in the spring 2018 term.
So I actually think that for TAG it’s the same thing as non-TAG! But the overall GPA needs to be 3.2+ rather than 3.0+.
Hey does anyone know if we can expect to receive the same grants our senior year?
@AyGrey yup I worded it wrong. They usually only talk in terms of overall gpa not semester or quarter gpa. Just the gpa requirement would be different. Good luck!
@SmartJarhead I think we have to reapply
@rorschwack No worries! You too:)
Any Econ & Accounting majors still pending? And does anyone know when the next batch is coming out?
@Lesbehonest I was told it was two week intervals, the next being the 16th and the one afterwards being the 30th of April.
Finally checked out my unofficial award letter, and I’m pleasantly surprised, to say the least. I’d pretty much be attending for close to nothing, which makes me even more excited and inclined to SIR to UCSB. Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools, but UCSB moved to the top rather quickly tonight :’)
Too bad I already SIR’d to CSULB, lol. The excitement is real.
Alright, i’ve been stressing lately and the anxiety is killing me. Maybe someone here can tell me what they think.
So basically this is is my third year, went to a local CC and did terrible. I was put on academic probation my first semester and then disqualified after my second. (Main reason why my gpa is terrible) Took a semester off and have mantained a 3.4 overall gpa at another CC - this is my second year there. I went from academic probation to deans honor this recent fall semester. Worked 45+ hours and kept full time enrollment. While also running an e-commerce business and taking an internship that eventually got me hired at a top college prep school as a teacher assistant. My grades have drastically improved so i’m hopeful. I was lazy and basically didn’t realize the importance of good grades due to being a first gen and having low standards in my community. Also my essays are pretty strong where everything is clearly explained.
Decision pending
Major applied under: Sociology
Classes missing: none
Overall GPA: 2.91
Igtec: finished
Any idea if I will even be considered? or will my application be tossed due to the low gpa?
Thanks!
@AyGrey I called them an asked, I was told that we need all Cs in UC transferable courses and a GPA above 3.0 for this semester too.
I specifically called because of the GPA situation and her answer confused me because it really seemed like they meant overall GPA instead of specifically for the last semester.
@cmor6317 I’m almost exactly in the same situation. I was at a private school playing college soccer and working a full time job. I attended for a year and a half and had a 2.6 gpa. I really didn’t care about school and was just enjoying the social life that came with being a soccer player. Since then I dropped out of the private school and am attending a CC I have a 2.93 gpa at my community college due to a rough start. After my first semester I’ve had over a 3.0 every other semester and am now part of the honors program. I’m currently taking 4 honors classes in order to finish the program. I really hope they consider the progress we’ve made as students. Although, I did not really mention my reasons specifically in my essays I’m hoping I’ll be admitted as a sociology major. If not I’m almost positive I will appeal and explain myself in further detail while also mentioning a few things I didn’t put on my application such as having an internship at a physical therapy clinic, being the student advocate for my honors class, and just stating I’m most likely going to get all A’s this semester. I wish you luck lmk if you hear anything back from them ! UCSB is my dream school.
