I have TAG, but I haven’t heard their response.
@lizzyyykkk
I looked it up:
UCLA is okay
Davis okay
Irvine okay
Riverside is okay
Berkeley - looks like a no
San Diego - need a 5 score to exempt from class
Santa Barbara - looks like a no
You need to contact each UC that has a no and say you just found out you got wrong info re AP and are taking the course in summer. Do it now.
@Ohm888
Oh my god. Ill call them then. Has there ever been a case where they made an exception bc i literally did all the business and econ classes and got As in them all.
@lizzyyykkk Yes, I’ve seen cases. You need to impress upon them that you went over everything with an advisor who said your AP covered the course and they verified your fulfillment of req. You just found out - emphasize GPA, etc. It’s not necessarily a biggie to add the summer course in your provisional contract, but whether they do it or not is another thing.
If you get rejected, this is grounds for an appeal because you were not informed, and frankly, hurt by advisors who you trusted to give accurate info.
@Ohm888
thank u for giving me sum hope ! The fact that i learn and gain more info from an online forum than actual real life counselors who are supposed to guide me is honesty so baffling…
Econ TAG with everything finished by spring and a 3.64 still havent heard back yet kinda starting to feel anxious lol
Hello Everyone! I am currently stressing out due to a new dilemma that I just found out about. I am a CSU to CC to UC transfer, and I applied for the fall 2019 term. However, after speaking to a UC representative at my CC the English Composition course I took at the CSU will most likely not transfer over to most if not any UC. I was under the impression, thanks to a CCC adviser, that the course will transfer over to any UC. Now I am stuck re-taking the English 1 course when I already to the second English requirement. I know UCs have a thing with sequence so now I am afraid that my admission to all UCs will be a rejection. Is there anything I can do to not let this affect me?
@lizzyyykkk unfortunately this is a very common situation regarding relying on the counselors. Mess ups and incorrect information happens often. For anyone reading this thread in the future…you MUST do your own research for the schools/major you are applying to… and read assist.org carefully for prereqs and info .
So sorry this happened. Glad you are ok for a lot of the other schools but obviously the UCSB tag would have been a sure thing. But maybe you wouldn’t have applied there anyway if it meant retaking econ. Good luck to you and keep us posted on here. ?
What Cal state did you go to? I went to a cal state, cc, and tagged with UCSB for fall 2019 as well. I took eng critical reading/writing at cc and have not heard ANYTHING about that grade not transferring…but what you just said has me worried af im probably rejected if thats the case
^sorry i took english reading/writing at calstate
I’m a little late to this but here are my stats in case anyone would like to see them!
ADMITTED 3/19/19
I honestly wan not expecting to hear back so fast. I made the account on March 19th and unexpectantly got my decision.
Out-of-state transfer, but I am a California resident
Major: pre-biology
GPA: 3.7
IGETC: Done
Prereqs: all completed
TAG: not applicable
Extra Curriculars: community service working with the homeless for 4+ years, intramural volleyball, member of a social sorority, member and fundraising chair of a professional fraternity, community service hours at MedWish, and more that are not as significant
Applied: UCSB, UCI, UCLA, UCSD
I’m not sure how much my essays were factored in, but I wrote really strong essays talking about my struggles with my own mental and physical health, how I almost failed out of high school, and how I have grown from my past experiences.
is it normal to not hear back yet even with a TAG ?
Just received my “Unofficial Award Letter”
me too ^
^^ same here. Kinda annoyed I’m only getting $10,900… hopefully UCI gives me more
^^ @africangirl97 I literally got 0$. No work study options.I got a $7,500 option for an unsubsidized loan. I got regents at UCI though but I’d rather go to SB.
Does anyone else have “off campus housing” on thier financial aid letter? I tried calling and they said that’s just how all transfer students get “lumped.” If I end up going idk where I’m gonna live. Should I try to live in a dorm as a Junior? Or is it better to join a FB group and live in an aptmt?
@trashception Maybe it’s the default? Mine also said “off campus housing” even though I didn’t select that anywhere. I’ve already applied for housing because I would move with my husband and two kids.
Here’s the UCSB housing site: https://www.housing.ucsb.edu/community/transfer-student
@Not2cool4school oh wow okay, I feel I am at a dissadvantage due to me waiting for other schools still. I hope by the time I decide there will still be housing options for me.
@Trashception @Not2cool4school It is irrelevant. On-campus or off-campus housing, you will still get the same financial award letter.
