UCSB Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Exactly. For me, not getting an acceptance/rejection yet is most likely due to getting an e-mail from the UC board last week to provide unofficial transcripts for my academic history in CC. I don’t know if anyone else got this, but I’m holding to it as the reason why no UC has given me a response yet. My college counselor doesn’t know anything about it either, but then again, I have yet to meet a college counselor who knows anything other than his/her room number.

I know that this probably isn’t good news, but at their open house yesterday the lady who was giving the presentation for transfer students said some decisions are possibly coming in May.

I will never understand why UCSB decided to give out admission decisions first, and then give it in parts, and now, as per the last comment, delay some even more into May. What benefits does this serve the University other than knowing who will be attending (or is interested in attending) to see how much space is left?

My only theory is that people who have not received decisions yet are not completely rejected yet, and UCSB is attempting to figure out if they can “fit us in.” Why else would we have not been rejected yet?

I have my tinfoil hat on right now, so don’t trust everything I have to say. I’ll probably be one of the only people on this website that will tell you that I’m probably not right and this is merely what I think.

looking at previous (2015-2018) UC Uni threads, the last batch usually has a considerable amount of rejections.

Hey guys!! This isn’t directed at anyone, but ya assuming that the last batch is all rejections is total bs. None of us are on the admissions board! We have no idea what the scheduling is, and we also have no idea who got in and who didn’t because we have no say in it! So this kind of negative thinking, that if you haven’t heard back yet that you didn’t get in, is so terrible and not helpful at all. Guys hang in there!!! You finished/are currently finishing CC (or whatever other school you’re coming from) and you applied to colleges! You did it! That’s amazing enough!!! You’ll go where you should be, and to the schools that don’t accept you, it’s their loss. Seriously!

no one said the last batch is only rejections lmao. while its good to be optimisitc, its also important to be realistic.

Right so in a time where applicants can’t do anything to affect their application, we should be realistic of the idea that the last batch is “mostly” rejects? And then what?

I hope you know that this a limbo time for some applicants. Telling them to be “realistic” is just unhelpful and subjective. Also, I’m looking at the “UCSB Fall 2018 Transfer Thread (Including TAG)” thread right now, and there is absolutely no evidence that the last batch has rejects. In fact, no one posts here that they got rejected, so I really hope that you stop spreading misinformation.

Here is the link to the 2018 thread (from the last posts): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-santa-barbara/2036132-ucsb-fall-2018-transfer-thread-including-tag-p72.html

Here is the link to the 2017 thread (from the last posts): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1912278-ucsb-fall-2017-transfer-thread-p54.html

So please, point to me where the mass amount of rejects are @ashyashy

im just putting this out there but my friend was accepted the first day, did not tag, has a pretty avg gpa (like 3.1-3.2) econ major, huge gap in education no “compelling life story” lol… Just as a comparison, im still pending, same major, around the same gpa. sooo i dont know guys im just trying to stay positive :fist:?

@acceptmeplsssss in the threads duh

Mathematics major
gpa 3.89
still pending…
drive me crazy…

for those who tagged, i really don’t think you guys should worry too much if you met all the requirements because your admission is guaranteed. good luck!

@ashyashy I’ve looked at the bottom half of both threads. There are literally 2 posts saying rejects out of the multitude of acceptances.

Seems like when you said “looking at previous (2015-2018) UC Uni threads, the last batch usually has a considerable amount of rejections.” was just BS.

also if you were admitted and couldn’t go to open house, IT’S AN AMAZING PLACE AND BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS! definitely going there if i don’t get into ucla/usc

just emailed a UCSB admissions counselor and she said its completely normal to TAG and not hear back yet. she also said not to worry if you have finished the requirements you’re literally guaranteed admission. stay up guys

I’m so excited to go to UCSB but the people who go there seem to be middle class and higher and being low income I feel like I don’t belong

@acceptmeplsssss if you can read correctly, i said i checked the “UC Uni Threads” which means i checked more than just the UCSB ones silly. also said 2015-2018 duh

For those of you who are still waiting:
I called UCSB admissions a few days ago and was told my application hadn’t been looked at yet. They are still going through the applications and having your decision pending doesn’t mean you’re more or less likely to get rejected.

@cloud7 you could call and ask about your application?

@Joseph590 I actually called about something else related to my application and I was transferred to a transfer counselor who looked at it, answered my original question, and then told me that my application hadn’t been reviewed yet.

I’m late to the party today, BUT so true about the people who got rejected not posting. It’s a terrible feeling to see a “Decisions out!” post, followed by a couple of acceptance posts, then to sign on and see “Denied.” Most people don’t run back to the board and tell everyone that they got denied. It’s not over until the f…Big-boned lady sings! And she gon’ SANG like JT “it’s gonna be mayyy” >.< lol sorry sleep deprivation kicking in.
