<p>@lyzdy1005: UCSD is weird with admissions EVERY year. As a freshman applicant I got rejected, then accepted, and then rejected again.</p>
<p>Yes, I got into Santa Cruz and a few state schools but thought my GPA and other activities would get me into UCSD, which is obviously my first choice…I may just go back to JC and reapply…should make for an easy year!</p>

<p>Kind of figured this would happen… I’m sure it was purely based on GPA, unfortunately an F (not my fault) in an Art History class pulled mine down form a 3.6 to a 3.4 by the time the application was due and I didn’t have a chance to retake the class before then. I’m sure I probably missed their GPA cutoff for bio, which because it’s so impacted was probably near a 3.5-3.6. The thing is I’ve gotten an A in every pre-req and 5 other bio classes. Oh well, SD was my first choice, but hopefully I can transfer there as senior from one of the other UCs, although I know that’s even harder. Congrats to everyone that got in.</p>
<p>@beauone1 and Random_Monkey: I applied as a freshman for fall 2009 two years ago and they rejected me. After my rejection, they sent me an acceptance, and I believe I even got an admissions packet from them! I was excited to SIR to UCSD! Then, they sent me an email to inform me that I really was rejected. That hurt. I ended up SIRing at UCSC, but wasn’t able to go there in fall 2009 because I got sick. So I started CCC in winter 2010 and now I’m going to be a Bear at UC Berkeley in fall 2011. Never give up :).</p>
<p>I was waitlisted and will follow the process and keep my fingers crossed! Was hoping to be done in four years, but will consider a trip back to JC. I currently have exactly 60 units so I can go and take some more classes, improve my overall GPA a little and see what happens…</p>

<p>They wait listed you because they knew you got into UCLA, if you reject UCLA (which they know you won’t).</p>
