Ucla coming tomorrow?

No UCLA tomorrow, learned that the hard

@thatoneguysmells
i heard about that too and i sooo hoped that it wasnt true, but i asked some UC admission, they said although they dint have the stat for how many % of out of state students they are gonna accept this year, she was pretty sure that there would be an increase % of out of state transfer students accepted…

maybe it’s not as many as 70% but im pretty sure transfer admissions will be somewhat affected…

Ok guys… this might let most us sleep a littler better at night (key word there is might)… This is from one of the admission officers at UCSD.

"Anyway, we have only released decisions twice for FA10 transfer applicants, and our last release (there could even be two more, depending on what out Director decides is necessary ) will include both additional admitted students and all of the students who will be denied transfer admission.

The delays are because we are not finished tomorrow is our deadline, and I will either be dead, or very happy to be done!! Also, it takes more behind-the-scenes number crunching now to scrutinize the data more critically after the first two releases since we need to be sure we dont admit too many more and then exceed our targets for FA10. We have to make sure we have room for any remaining students who qualify for TAG first, since its a guarantee, and then we know how many more we can admit who will be non-TAG. The cut will come somewhere in a list of GPAs - greater than or equal to a 3.00 of applicants who have met all unit and subject requirements, too."

SD had 14000 transfer applicants this year, but does anyone know how many they’re accepting/got accepted?

such a great info though !!! THANKS!!!

whats your stat^ if u dun mind me asking

UCSD was the first school I herd from during March. I was accepted into as an International Studies- Poli Sci major. My college is Muir. UCSD is awesome but UCLA is def my first choice. Can’t freaking wait for the decisions AHHHHH!

15 days and counting. All we can do is wait. Good luck to everyone.

there’s always this question that comes to my mind…with so many more applicants this year, UCSD is still trying to adapt the ‘batches’ way to release the results, what if they find out later that, some of those who have not been evaluated yet may turn out to be better candidates than some of those who have already been admitted? and they may not even be able to give acceptances to these ‘better ones’ due to the limited space…
lol!!! how fair can this be??

@conniek: My theory on this, and no one will like it, is that acceptance/rejection decisions have already been made, and that the batching is to help regulate the flow of paperwork and general admissions bureaucracy (including notifying all the other departments at UCSD that they are actually going to let you in).

^ Wait, what? No way! I don’t think that’s the purpose of doing it batches. I thought that UCSD has already made all of its decisions – including denials – and has decided that sending them out in batches is safer and less risky than sending all of them out at once. This, I thought, is the purpose of doing it in batches.

Am I wrong?

Post-edit: Yes, jamessinho’s post is exactly what I mean. Right on…I hope he’s right.

really?? okok, maybe i get it wrong hehe T.T silly me!

by the way, would anyone possibly know if it kills to have the english/math class done (to fulfill IGETC requirement) in the last semester before transfer? especially with so many applicants this year, and hence more competitive to get to UCSD?

Good question there. I am like you in that I too am taking the English this final semester. I do know that we could have signed the TAG had we finished this requirement in the Fall, and therefore we would have been guaranteed admission to UCSD. So, basically, in a way, yes: I think it would have boosted our chances to have finished in the Fall since we would have been able to be guaranteed admission.

But there’s no point in regretting now though, since we can’t change any of that. Let’s just hope for the best, and if we get denied, conjure up our best judicial mindset to write our scathing appeals.

i don’t think it’s too big of a deal. however, in a hypothetical situation in which there is only one spot left between an applicant who finished prior to or during fall and an applicant who’s completing during the spring then the first one would probably get in (all other things equal)

its not me, i am just asking for someone else…
it is true that it’s just too late to regret, maybe its not as bad as we think it is ![]()
good luck to you :)

So . . .I was talking to this girl in my class and she has similar stats to mine. No TAG, 3.4, Honors student, Liberal Arts major, and she got in to UCSD. So I guess there’s hope for some of us who still haven’t heard?

i believe so!! maybe we just have to wait a little longer…

I saw someone quoting a UCSD admissions officer earlier as saying that they HAVE NOT finished decisions yet, and that is the reason for “delays” (batches).

"Hmmm. Hey, someone told me that if you meet TAG requirements but didn’t mark TAG on your application UCSD automatically puts you as TAG? Anyone know if this rumor is valid? "

This question was posted a few pages back. Does anyone know the answer to this question?

to my understanding, one would have to check the actual box.
