haha no tag. i got into davis last week. so prob not?

Just curious, but when was the last time someone spoke with admissions? Did they finish evaluating all of the apps on Friday?

I just spoke with admissions an hour or so ago (in person.) I’ll copy/paste all the info from the other thread I put it in.

Also, I just got back from the UCSD admissions office.

She said they JUST finished reviewing all transfer applicants today and decisions should be posted by next Friday at the absolute latest, but probably before that.

She gave out the figure of “9,000” for the amount of transfer applicants, but she said it in passing so I’m not sure if it was accurate or just a random number. I should have asked her specifically, but forgot.

I asked her about having a 3.0 without TAG and she basically gave me the “you’re effed” loook without saying I’m effed. So basically, I’m pretty much effed.

I asked her about you with a 3.0 for comm WITH a TAG and she said you should be fine.

She said the first batch of UCSD admits was all high-GPA (3.8ish) transfers, the second batch was mostly mid-level GPA and some TAG, and the last batch will be the rest of the TAG applicants and the lower GPA people.

I think you’re fine dude.

That’s about all I got out of her though.

Edit: She also stated that the minimum GPA floor, which was at a 3.0 last year, will probably go up, but she didn’t know to what (if you’re on TAG, this doesn’t matter, obviously since 3.0 is the minimum)

@Grimes99:

Thanks for the info, but **** that sounds bad…

so if you don’t have TAG, you are pretty much screwed?..

“She said the first batch of UCSD admits was all high-GPA (3.8ish) transfers, the second batch was mostly mid-level GPA and some TAG, and the last batch will be the rest of the TAG applicants and the lower GPA people.”

lol are you sure…I had TAG and my gpa was not high at all…like 3.03?? and i got accepted in the first batch :/

There are people with 3.7/3.8s + tag that haven’t been accepted yet so I doubt the accuracy of Grimes post/the admissions officer.

I have a 3.6+tag and I still haven’t been let in for that matter.

So by “next” Friday does he mean this upcoming one which would be the 23rd or the following one which would be the 30th? If it’s the latter then this would be yet another “decisions will be out by the 30th” statement.

Well, it doesn’t sound like she was referring to people with TAG.

Yeah, if they just finished doing transfer apps today why would they release them on 4/30…

ugh… i wish SD would just release them already

@ Quentin13:

Not ‘this’ Friday, but ‘next’ – the 30th.

Don’t shoot the messenger guys.

Maybe some of the 3.7/3.8s that aren’t in yet are either TAG or they applied to heavily impacted majors? I don’t know, I can only repeat what she said.

Great info Grimes.

Now, did she mean friday the 23rd or friday the 30th? I’m at a 3.2 without TAG. I hope I have a shot.

@Grimes99

Nah, I’m not shooting you down lol just wondering why admissions officers are always giving wonky answers S: like there’s a possibility it could be true, but at the same time, such a high chance of false info xD

She said “next Friday” so I would assume the 30th, but she did say that we would “most likely” receive the final batch before then. She was basically saying that the 30th is the deadline, I think.

I think the general idea of what she was saying is true, which is that the first batch was mostly higher GPA applicants, the second batch was mid-level applicants without TAG and some TAG applicants, then the last batch will be mostly TAG applicants and lower GPA non-TAGgers.

This doesn’t meant that zero higher-GPA’d TAG applicants will be admitted anymore, but just in general it’s the system they had in place.

They admitted the higher gpas during the first wave? I have a 3.78 and still have not yet been admitted.

What. Up.

hahahhaah ^… you just blow the theory lol good jobb hahahha now i m not that worried… i have a 3.4 hhaha

Are you TAG?

Gah! You guys are missing what I said. What the counselor told me is probably GENERALLY true, but not absolutely true. UCSD has a process, which probably doesn’t change much year to year. They let in mostly higher GPA people in the first wave, then work their way down. This DOES NOT mean that if you have a high GPA and haven’t heard yet, you won’t be in.

Communications. Yes i have TAG.
