UCSD Acceptance

Yeah that won’t be a problem.

@Grimes 99: No problem; if you do end up getting denied, I might be able to proofread your appeal/give you some pointers if you’d like. We might both be writing appeals, lol.

@chrisleetype:

There’s admissions representatives that rep UCSD throughout California? No way, can you link me to this? I want to email my representative.

@Oliver: I will probably take you up on that offer! And if we’re both accepted, along with whomever else is freakin out with us, a drink is in order.

When I spoke (emailed too) with a admissions rep she said the deadline was last Friday but since they didn’t expect soo many applications, its reasonable. The admissions officer also told me that UCSD might even have two more waves of admissions but I guess that ain’t happening… eff…

PS. I don’t think one drink will suffice Grimes…

Hi guys. I’m new here. I’ve been following your thread off and on for about a week or two now. I haven’t received any acceptance from UCSD yet either. . . a bit nerve racking.

If I get into SD and survive physics, I’ll be there.

If I get rescinded for dropping physics or get denied I’ll join in on that appeal fun xD

Good luck guys :D

The guy that got in with a 3.1 and no tag is a guy that I volunteer with at the UCSD hospital. He’s not on the post I just know him from volunteering and that is what he told me. He also got into all of the other schools that he applied to (Davis, Santa Cruz). He is also of a minority ethnicity (Latino/Hispanic).

I thinkthis might be it
http://admissions.ucsd.edu/CounselorLinkFall.pdf</a></p>

but can anyone help me out with similar stories?

-Grimes

So when u asked the admissions lady she really gave u a look that if u have a 3.0 we wont get in. F*** bro

10 more days!

@ Cowgirl - Minority status doesn’t matter as much as it once did. UCSD is still mostly Asian students. Nontraditional though, like parents’ education level might still matter.

cowgirl is full of it. fat chance anyone with a 3.1 has gottan in YET.

Different day, same result. Come on UCSD… tick tock!

@dowork: I’m not a body language expert, but yeah it wasn’t good haha. I’m holding out a slight bit of hope, but at this point I’m hoping for UCI. If you have TAG you’re fine, but I don’t.

She did say that the GPA floor (who they accept automatically) was going to go up from the 3.0 it was at last year. Since I have a 3.03, I’m probably screwed. I mean they’re not going to raise it to a 3.05, it’ll probably be a 3.1/3.2 if anything. She also said that I can include the GPA information and how close I was in my appeal.

-grimes99

Thats great info. I wish more people would post information like that. Thank you grimes!

I got the acceptance fairly early…like 1 month ago…and I was paying attention on my other pending offers so I havent log in since then…
And now I couldnt get into the system at all! Everytime the web just wont go through and keep showing the IE cant display page thing…
OMG i m so worry…I want to go in and check my offer again =(

@dowork: You got it! I don’t know how helpful it’ll end up being, but I had to at least try going down there haha.

I don’t think you guys are fishes out of the water just yet. Again, I hate to emphasize this but I do NOT think GPA was the variable for the early admission decisions.

My friend from Political Science got accepted in the same batch as me. He has TAG and a 3.3 GPA. His major is Economics and only partial Pre-Reqs done. So he’s pretty much the same type of applicant as me (Pre-Req’s not done, TAG done, IGETC, San Diego resident) but he has a much lower GPA than me. And Economics isn’t one of those “off target” majors with a low applicant pool. Economics is pretty significant at UCSD. And, majors have absolutely nothing to do with admissions. It only matters between a spot in an impacted major and a spot in a non-impacted major.

What I think was at least one factor, was San Diego residency. Beyond TAG, colleges prioritize accepting local applicants because they have a much higher acceptance of admission offer rate, and they are also loyal to the community.

Yep, too bad that doesn’t help me with prestigious UC Berkeley. Grr.

Do any of you guys know the minimum GPA that you need in your spring semester before you transfer? I have a TAG btw, I don’t know if that matters…
