UCSD Acceptance

like i said, no matter what you ask, they simply tell you go to to myapplication. when i said i couldn’t, they said “they couldn’t access it from where they were either” which is also a load of crap, but they said it regardless.

they are still giving out acceptances. they all just come out on the 30th along with rejections.

I’m sorry ThePelican but your story seems kinda fishy. I don’t see a reason why they need to meet with you in person. What are you guys going to talk about in person that you can’t say on the phone? I feel like they would only meet with someone for a serious situation. I also don’t see how they could just tell you whether you got accepted or not right on the spot. Besides, why would they accept you and go through all this trouble when someone else already has the requirement? If it really is true, then good luck but sounds fishy to me.

@csula09 I’m at CSULA right now too so don’t expect any decision until Friday. We are last priority after the TAG’s, non-TAG’s, out of state, international or anything else. As for classes transferring over, it’s always a question mark for CSU to UC but people have transferred before. The best thing to do is just wait and see what happens.

Grimes, I have been with you this whole way as a lurker so allow me to tell you that I’m in the same boat as you and I’m pulling for you, my friend.

I asked an admissions rep today whether it was just rejections that were being handed out on the 30th, and she said no, it’s just one more big batch of both admissions and rejections.

@Super: Thanks! There are a couple of us in similar situations, so at least I know there are multiple shoulders to cry on if that fateful day comes :frowning:

What’s your exact situation?

I am going in myself to talk with them about if I can take a class during summer to remove my flag. I also will attempt to see if CSUSM can give me in writing if the class at the JC is similar to the CSU one and that way also they could potentially remove the flag.
They did not request a meeting with me, I made one with them.

@Pelican: I’m pretty sure you can take classes in the summer that you need to graduate, assuming they are NOT core classes such as the UC English/math required courses. But if so, you need to alert UCSD of this pronto.

UCSD admin staff are always so mean! UC davis and SB staff are like angels.

I haven’t called them, but the one time I did go in and talk to them it went well. I was thinking about going today, but I’m pretty sure that would be fruitless and I don’t really want to drive 20 minutes south for nothing.

I need to take my 2nd english composition class because apparently one that I thought (and still think) does not count for it. That is why I am going in tomorrow for an emergency academic update.

@Pelicon: Ah, well best of luck, but from my understanding those courses have to be done by spring. Hope it works out for you though!

Hey Pelican, what’s your GPA?

I’m still confused. Are you accepted and they told you that you need to get this class or are you still pending and going to go make an emergency update so they will know that you will take the class when they review your application? Hope all goes well though.

My other option is to appeal. I took a philosophy critical thinking class at my CSU and thought because at the JC the philosophy critical thinking class was transferrable that mine was as well. So, maybe I have a chance on that ground.

My gpa is a 3.45 from CSUSM

I called up because I thought I might have made a mistake on my application with regards to my units. The lady looked into it and said that was fine but my application was flagged for missing a class. I asked if that meant that I was accepted but because of that class it would hold me back. She said most likely it would, but there is a chance I would get accepted anyway and I could always appeal.

Hmm… 3.45,

Isn’t it more difficult for students from CSUs and UCs to transfer for a UC. I’ve noticed that usually those who get in from CSUs and UCs have very high GPAs like 3.8-4.0.

This may be a good sign that they are at least going out of their way to make an exeption for a CSU transfer with a lower GPA. I mean English is big requirement. Many times people get a conditional acceptance at most if they don’t have english and math done by the previous fall or winter unless of course they have a strong app.

Goodluck. I hope everything goes well.

Also PELICAN, so since your a CSU transfer, that means you dont have a TAG right? Can you rsvp for that UCSD transfer day thing?

Oh okay well I hope all goes well for you tomorrow.

No TAG and I cannot sign up for Admit Day.
My essay and ECs were very good though. I think I was borderline and maybe those 2 things pushed me over.

@KnightMight - what is the conditional acceptance?

@knightmight

I am transferring from a CSU too and I was not able to register for transfer admit day. However, my brother who applied as a freshman to UC’s in 2004 said that UCLA had the same type of thing back then. His friend was able to register for transfer admit day at UCLA but was later rejected so I would just forget about it and wait until the real day on Friday instead of stressing out about it!

lol whatever you guys do, don’t log onto that aventeur site anymore. It popped up in my history so I typed my ID in just for kicks and it gave me this big warning saying that the site is only for freshmen and misuse of that site is not allowed and my ID had been flagged.
