UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

Oh no, Triton Day appears to be April 8th (sat.) which is same day as Day 2-3 of Cal Poly SLO’s Preview Days. (not that we got invited yet, but … )

Triton Day is also the same day as UCSB’s Spring Insight. You can do Friday, April 7th as an admitted day at Cal Poly if you want to do both. It will be set up as such. 2 days seems like overkill.

@Momofsenior2017 It’s also the same day as the admitted student events at Santa Barbara and Davis (and maybe more UCs)! UCLA is April 15 and Irvine is the 22nd.

@ZHB1999 do they tell you whether or not your son received regents?

@gingerspark99 no, they did not tell him if he got regents. Guessing he’s a top applicant so praying…

He hasn’t heard a decision about SLO yet but yeah, it stinks that events are on same weekend for both schools.

@ZHB1999 What time did he get called? Congrats btw to you and your son :slight_smile:

@emli8100 I don’t recall exactly. In the afternoon sometime PST.

@ZHB1999 afterschool?

@ZHB1999 what was the caller id/ area code?

I’m a US citizen and an in-state applicant. I’m residing outside the US. Will I be receiving my decision via Phone call or via the portal?

Thanks :slight_smile:

@Versalia it was RESTRICTED. Came at 3:20 PST. I know you all are anxious, we are too with other schools still. I would suggest doing other things to try to get your mind off of college acceptances. God has a plan for all of you, trust in it. :slight_smile:

@ZHB1999 did his portal get updated too or did you just get a call? Thank you for answering all these questions haha

@helpmeimdying As of yesterday he said his portal was not updated. That it was not “official” in the sense of the portal but that they called and just told him verbally. I will check with him again today.

This does not fit the pattern for the calling campaign of the past few years. For the last 3 years (2014, 2015, 2016), it has started on the first Tuesday in March and gone through to the following Sunday. The year before that (2013), it was Monday through Sunday, Mar. 4-10. Perhaps there are a few extra calls that occur earlier than this for special admits? Anyway, I am guessing that the regular calling campaign may not have started yet. I got this information by Googling “UCSD, faculty participation in the Early Calling Campaign”.

Can someone explain what the “Calling Campaign” is, and what it signifies? I can surmise, but don’t want to.

@ZHB1999 your son had a unique educational background, right? Maybe they are calling certain types of admits first.

Many of the preview days overlap. UCI CHP is Thursday morning April 6. Here are the rest. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-general/1964485-uc-preview-days-admitted-freshmen.html#latest

Just found this, which lists the Early Calling Campaign as Tuesday, February 28 - Sunday, March 5, 2017.

@BunnyBlue Your googling skills are impressive

What’s the difference between early and faculty calling campaigns?

@youcee Thank you :slight_smile:
