Anyone get a call today? I feel like at this time last year, the 2020 thread was bustling with activity haha
@wormholes hey, not sure about calls, but this thread does have a lot of activity! 50,000 + views and over 300 comments now. It’s safe to say that we all really want to go here, and I hope we all get accepted. I’m not expecting a call, and consider myself borderline. I’ve gotten no correspondence from the school whatsoever, so I’m nervous. However, I’m going to keep the faith. I have a low GPA but high ACT (3.95 and 33), so I guess we’ll see. Good luck to you!
@poliscihopeful7 Funny I was just coming here to mention we have not received and correspondence from UCSD either. The other UCs have been pretty consistent emailing throughout this process. This is worrisome.

I just thought that last year, around this time was when calls had started going out, and a lot of people were posting about acceptances! I haven’t gotten correspondence either, but I haven’t lost hope. We’ll see soon. Good luck!
@austingal Out of the four UC’s I applied to (UCSD, UCI, UCB, and UCM), UCSD has sent the least amount of correspondence. I think the only thing I’ve gotten from them is the “Thank you for applying” brochure (which earlier was shown to not mean anything in terms of admissions decisions ¯_(ツ)_/¯) and the portal setup, but other than that, nothing. I’m thinking that they just don’t send out much mail, but I really don’t know.
Has anyone received any other correspondence from UCSD outside of the VIP Tour/Calling Campaign/“Thank you for applying” brochure?
@wormholes oh no you didn’t come off rude at all! I’m sorry if my reply implied that. On another note, I didn’t even receive the “thank you for applying” brochure, so I guess we’ll see what happens.
Receipt of application on 12/14/16 and “My Application is now Open” on Jan 20, 2017. That’s all.
@poliscihopeful7 We’re good And I didn’t receive the brochure either. Hoping it’s not a bad sign…I have a 4.1 UC GPA and 35 ACT so I don’t think UCSD is TOO out of reach… Hoping for the best for everyone!

35 ACT, 4.1 UC GPA, lots of unique ec’s, leadership, national and state awards, NMF, ELC, CA resident. Applied for CS.

Maybe the calling campaign hasn’t been as aggressive this year? Or people who got calls aren’t active or a part of CC?
Looking at both @pristinechris and @wormholes 's stats, it would be pretty confusing if the brochures meant anything. I have a 4.2 UC GPA and 1470 new SAT (which is equivalent to a 32 ACT) with some pretty average EC’s and I got the brochure. It’s very, very, very unlikely that I am a more competitive candidate than them lol. It’s probably completely random, that’s literally the only way I can explain it.
And @emli8100 I think the latter might be more accurate because this thread isn’t as active as it was last year, so I think that might be a part of it. But I haven’t heard of any other calls outside of CC, so I can’t say for sure.

I’m pretty worried. Being paranoid, applied to all UC’s except Merced and Riverside. Heard from no one!
Are they guaranteed to do the calling campaign? There’s a lot of people with really high stats on the forum who did not get a call. Maybe they do it alphabetically?
I’ve actually been picking up calls starting yesterday but all I’ve picked up are salespeople…
In this link that @BunnyBlue posted a few pages ago ( http://adminrecords.ucsd.edu/Notices/2016/2016-9-15-1.html ) it says that the “Early Calling Campaign” goes from March 13 to March 24??? What does this mean? That decisions won’t be released until after March 24? So confused…
@wormholes Same here! The decision date can’t come soon enough.
Also, for the calling campaign:
· Tuesday, February 28 – Sunday, March 5, 2017, Early Calling Campaign
Might be preliminary?
· Monday, March 13 – Friday, March 24, 2017, Faculty Calling Campaign
This sounds like what the bulk of people got last year, so maybe that’s why we haven’t heard much? (Last year it went faculty then students, iirc?)
I thought UCSD was predicted to release March 10th though so what’s the point of the latter campaign?
Wow! If the Calling Campaign lasts until the 24th…
Does that mean all UC decisions will come out later this year??? T^T sure hope not
