UCSD Class of 2021 Discussion/Decisions

Happy for your friend!

I did, don’t think it means anything tho

@uclahopefull I haven’t, but last year that was a good sign, I think! (Not everyone got it, and mostly accepted applicants seemed to get the invites, but I’m not 100% sure) Did anyone get emails for other locations yet?

@uclahopefull What does the email say?

It says:

Dear ____,
UC San Diego invites you to join us in Los Angeles for an exclusive opportunity to meet UC San Diego students, Admissions, Financial Aid and Student support staff! Get information on academics, student life and the amazing resources at UC San Diego. Light refreshments will be served.

@yuccatree woah really?! I got it but I figured it was just some random promotion

@jaquabert That was what they were saying on the thread for last year’s applicants, that it was a good omen. Not all applicants get invited to the reception. Of course I can’t say for sure if UCSD changed anything, but based off of last year it’s probably a good sign? I mean logically, it wouldn’t make sense to invite you to an event, rent out a location, etc. only to reject people, especially if they didn’t send it to everyone.

@yuccatree true that makes sense

Wow so nobody else got a call I guess

Do those of you who received an email about a Los Angeles reception live in the LA area? And when did you receive it?

@thebeastinside no we are not certain. Nothing is certain since the schools are not saying. People are guessing based on the last two years decisions having come out on the second Friday in March and a few other things.

Congrats to those who got the invitation to reception! Did you guys just get it today? Also, can someone post a link of the threads from last year saying that the reception invitation is a good sign? Were there people who got in but didn’t receive the mail?

They said either or so. So I think,March 10th.
Couple of years ago, class of 2019 decisions portal got updated with Georgia tech release date. This year,Georgia tech is releasing on March 11th. Let’s see!

I also received an invite to the reception but for the Inland Empire Region. Does this actually mean anything?

What time did you guys and girls get the email?

@TheWave01 Yes there are people that get accepted w/o the invite. This person got a phone call of admittance but not the reception:

Also, to both @TheWave01 and @maya7222 , here is what students last year said about the reception invites:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19373769#Comment_19373769

When you look through the threads, users who did get the reception tended to be accepted, but not all students that reported acceptances reported the reception invite. This could mean a lot of things, but I think that seeing it = good sign, not seeing it = neutral sign.

I know my stats aren’t all that, but I was accepted to CHP at UCI last month… so I guess my app reads really well.
