UCSD Class of 2022

Waitlisted with a super low gpa and super high SAT… I didn’t expect it but this is making me more nervous

I got waitlisted too! Is there any chance that we here back before May 1st? It seems pointless to be offered admission by June as we already would have accepted offers from other colleges.

Accepted!
Major: History
SAT: 1250
Unweighted GPA: 3.78

Accepted In-State for Anthropology (Concentration in Sociocultural Anthropology) at Roosevelt College!
GPA: 4.51 (W)/3.98 (UW) and UC GPA was around a 4.26 I think?
SAT: 1340
ACT: 30
SAT II: None

Does anyone that got into Muir want to switch places with me and go to Revelle? I would really appreciate your kindness

Hey guys, congratulations on getting in! A while back somebody posted here a video link saying it’s the welcome video for newly admitted tritons. I can’t seen to find it in my letter, or on the portal. Does anyone have a link?

Okay I was way too hyped when I first posted so I’m going to actually give stats this time
-Accepted for marine biology(first choice)
-Very local i live in SD
-Warren college(first choice)
-ACT 29
-GPA 4.56
-a lot of EC like key club, volleyball, tutoring, and sports
-Work experience
-9 AP classes
-I thought my essays were pretty good I guess
Also I have only seen like one other marine biology so I guess I am the only one who cares about fish

Just to clarify, have all those who chose Computer Science and Engineering as their major, gotten an undeclared major? I got Undeclared Major in Revelle College.
As per this link: http://jacobsschool.ucsd.edu/academic/academic_undergrad/undergrad_majors/
“Admission to UC San Diego as a freshman does not guarantee admission to engineering majors at the Jacobs School of Engineering. Due to high demand, all engineering majors at UC San Diego are considered “capped” for incoming freshman applying for enrollment, which means additional screening procedures are in place.”

Also, according to this link: https://students.ucsd.edu/academics/advising/majors-minors/capped-majors.html
Computer Science and Engineering is capped for “all students”.

So just wanted to ask, is there anyone who sure shot got Comp Sci and Eng as their major? I’m really confused about this whole “capped majors” issue.

If some people got the major, then we’ll get an idea about the competition that we’ll have to face for the few seats available. I’m just hoping the capped thing is for all students.

Accepted with Undeclared Major in Roosevelt, but applied for Computer science and engg. . Pls advise as my only choice is Comp. sc. in Jacob engg. What I should do and how I can change my major.

I think let’s wait for more to reply. It seems Comp Science and Engineering is capped for all. In that case, everyone must have gotten Undeclared. In that case we won’t have to worry much. (I think!)

Yup, me too. Applied for CSE but got undeclared in warren

We’re all in different colleges and got undeclared. Atleast now I don’t have the guilt of choosing the wrong college. XD

Accepted for Management Science in Sixth College (both major & college are my first choices)!

Female, Asian. Born in Boston (so US citizen) but living & going to high school outside of the US.
ACT: 32 (senior year)
SAT: 1390 (junior year)
SAT Subject Tests: 780 Math level 2, 720 Chemistry
IB predicted: 45
IB subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry Higher Level

I think the main reasons for my acceptance is arguably my very strong extracurriculars and essays.

Congratulations to everyone who got offers!

Accepted into Roosevelt Coll!
Applied to Cognitive sciences with specialisation in Machine learning and Neural computation
SAT - 1460 (790 math)
IB Predicted - 38/42
Essays - Decent
ECs - Good

Looking forward to going to UCSD!

If you applied to a capped major in the college of engineering (esp computer science/engineering), and you were accepted as undeclared, note the following:

  1. The college did accept people directly into the major, and these acceptances are intended to fill most, if not all, of the slots But there are many more applicants than they have slots for. Most will be either rejected from UCSD outright, or accepted to an alternate major or as “undeclared.”
  2. It is possible to transfer into the capped majors once you are a student at UCSD, but it is very, very competitive. You have to meet GPA requirements for the lower division courses, and then there’s a lottery process. The likely outcome is that you will not be able to get into the major
  3. If you are accepted directly into a CS/CSE major at a different university, you should take that option, if you really want to study CS/CSE.
  4. If you love UCSD, and are perfectly fine with ending up as a math (or other) major, then it would be reasonable for you to go to UCSD and take a chance on trying to transfer into the CS/CSE major.

Accepted (international) for Management Science to Roosevelt

SAT: 1510 (English: 720 Math:790)
SAT Subject Math II: 800
IB Predicted: 43/45

Accepted computer engineering! An international student at Muir college.

@rocket88 Oh man! Thanks for the insight! I’d better make a decision once all results are out. I really wanna do CSE. You gave me the exact advise needed. Thanks again!

Accepted for Undeclared in Revelle College. Applied for Aero Eng, but oh well haha.

ACT: 33
GPA: 4.0
Female from NJ

@tinggoesskraa My son got direct admit to computer science in Warren College. If your heart is set on CSE, choose a school that gives you direct admit. Their lottery system sounds like purgatory
