There’s going go to be an official facebook page for the class of 2022. People can post their bios on there and that’s how people usually find roommates.
@Pink104, Most students live east of the school in the UTC/La Village areas, or in beach communities to the North (Del Mar, Encinitas) or South (PB, OB, MB). Its all pretty expensive. When I was at UCSD in the 80’s we rented a 3 bedroom in Del Mar, 1 house off the beach, for $900. Desi Arnaz was my neighbor
@Julieta2321 Do you have the link to sign up for housing? I got the email to create an account and I set it up but there’s just a message about allowing two to three business days after accepting before logging into the list.
@collegecrazy21 I have the same thing showing.
@Julieta2321 Thanks!
@collegecrazy21 Thank you! So financial aid is this week, when should we start expecting acceptance packets?
Will they send acceptance packets if you haven’t said ‘yes’ yet?
Yes they will. The card needed for triton day is In the package so it should be coming out before April 14
@emeeelian I think you should be fine. The aerospace of Jacobs is pretty good from what I know of it. The ratio is going to be lower in any engineering field, but I think UCSD has a much higher ratio of women to men students in the engineering classes/program compared to other schools (I know Cal Poly Pomona is waaay lower than UCSD bc my s/o said it was nice to see so many women in engineering here at SD vs CPP)
You will find your “group,” believe me. This goes for anyone. It’s much harder for transfers to assimilate/adjust imo.
Does anyone have any idea how important it is to attend Triton Day? We have been to the campus for a tour already, but we have a conflict on that date that would make it challenging to attend. I don’t want to miss out on anything important.
@screenname3 I attended Triton Day with my sibling last year and its just like a tour day with thousands of people. You won’t be missing anything special, if you have already attended a tour.
@screennname3 From last year students from my school that have taken many tours at UCSD they say that the tours are lit, over exaggerated, and fun.
@Gumbymom I was accepted to UCSD and Sdsu for biology. I was wondering which would be a better choice for pursuing dental school later on. UCSD has a better reputation, but I think I can maintain a much higher gpa at Sdsu. What should I do?
How to find out if you got Regents? waiting for the call?
regents hasnt been announced ?
@caligirl1999: deciding upon which school would be your personal preference. Reputation will not be a deciding factor for dental school admissions. Dental experience ie. EC’s , volunteering/shadowing, GPA and DAT score will get you in. Go to the school where you think you have the best chance of succeeding academically, financially and socially. Also have a backup plan. My neighbor went to CSU Monterey Bay and is now attending Dental school. Check out each schools Pre-Professional advising center.
Does anyone have any tips on how to succeed as an engineering major at UCSD? Is it really that bad, even if you manage your time well?
My son is nervous about that too @emeeelian CS in COE
Get comfortable with MATLAB, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks… but mainly MATLAB. You’re going to probably be programming and using MATLAB a lot in your classes. Time management is the biggest downfall of most (if not all) students. Get better at it if you’re not very good. And make sure your calc/physics foundation is strong. You’ll need that for when you take statics & then dynamics.
Got in to UCSD & UCSB. Which one is better?
