UCSD says my financial aid estimate is not available. I did not file the FAFSA as I do not qualify for financial aid- can I not get a merit scholarship since I didn’t file my FAFSA?
@road2college2018 Just received my update that I got regents. So they might still be rolling out.
Hey guys, so I just got an email from UCSD about an update to my application. When I clicked into it it was just my same acceptance letter from last week. I’m wondering if this is just a very delayed update to portal email… OR I recently updated UCSD about changes to my coursework, and this could be confirmation of my acceptance?? Thanks for any help or insight.
@musicmeister22 Click on the option to “View Financial Aid Status” and that should be the update. I did the same thing too so don’t worry haha
@MyDogsNameIsFat ooooh, ok. Thanks! It says I haven’t filed my FAFSA (which I did… oh well… :/).
Make sure you guys all used the proper school code for UCSD. Many students accidentally check University of San Diego, which is not the same as UC-San Diego.
The federal code is 001317 so you might want to double check and see if that might be the issue.
Is there a UCSD roommate thread?
Really in a tough spot…trying to figure out how hard it is to get into engineering once admitted into UCSD as undeclared. My S has been rejected by ucla, ucsb, ucd and admitted into ucr and ucsc for engineering. This only leaves us UCSD and UCI as the better options (with Irvine still pending).
Any feedback about the SD’s engineering competitiveness would be appreciated.
@zyxwvut7 How were you not able to file a FAFSA? I thought everybody, regardless of how much income, is eligible to file one no matter what. Even if you don’t get a lot of money, it’s still free money for college. Also, UCs tend to be vague on scholarships of their own, unless you are a really high stat student and can get regents/chancellor scholarship then sure, but to the sounds of it, even that won’t be enough to pay for the entire cost.
@orionary Everyone is eligible to file, but for some of us we know that in general we wouldn’t qualify for any need-based aid or grants, and colleges technically aren’t supposed to base merit based aid off of FAFSA.
@BrightOasis you might to check the comments on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-san-diego/2065726-ucsd-undeclared-class-of-2022.html#latest
Got into UCSD and UCSB, waitlisted for UCLA. I’m unsure whether to go to UCSB or UCSD. Does anyone know the pros/cons of both?
Does anyone reccomend taking Molecular Synthesis?
Hmmm
Rejected to Bio
GPA: 4.22
ACT: 35
SAT: 1470
Does anyone know if they review the entire application including the supplemental questionnaire for the waitlist applicants or just the stats? Or is it a lottery? Is it true they do not take in state students off the waitlist so they can get more money from the out of state students?
Has anyone been able to sign up for housing yet? I can log on to the Triton Checklist but the housing link isn’t up yet.
