Congrats! Your son’s stats are extremely impressive! Maybe he didn’t get into Davis because he was overqualified , I heard they reject for that reason sometimes haha
I was admitted (woohoo!) but now I’m more concerned about the financial aid tab… Is the financial aid statement listed currently the final version of it?

I attended an admissions session last Spring and they discussed being admitted as “undeclared.” Essentially, since she wasn’t admitted into a capped major, they are offering her a second chance at choosing another uncapped major rather than just denying admission. The cons of this is that she won’t get to do her major of choice beginning freshman year, or really even at all. If she chooses to attend UC San Diego regardless, she will be able to reapply to that capped major (as far as I remember), but it is not guaranteed that she will get in. The benefits of going “undeclared” is that it offers the opportunity to explore other major options. Other than that, I can’t really think of any more.
I am in a similar boat currently. I was accepted to UC San Diego but not the Bioengineering department. I did not select an alternate major as I do not plan on majoring in anything else. It is most likely that for this reason, I will not be attending. But they said it themselves in the admissions session that if you don’t apply for an alternate major, it really comes down to whether you want to “be in your major, or be a Triton.”
I wish your daughter the best of luck in figuring this all out!
My daughter got accepted as an undeclared major to Sixth College. I went to the UCSD website to research Sixth College and saw an article dated June 2018 that Sixth College is suppose to move in Fall 2020 to brand new facilities. Since the article is 2 years old, anyone know if Sixth College is still on schedule to move this fall?
