They are building a new dorm for Sixth which is supposed to open this fall. With everything going on, I wonder if it will be delayed.
@Gumbymom what’s the process to change the major from Mathematics-CS to CS?
is it any different from impacted to impacted? also hopefully it would be little less competitive compared to coming from other majors. Please advise. Thanks!

If I do go I would try and switch to computer science; I’m trying to decide between UIUC Stats + CS and UCSD DS
@lilgcs UIUC Stats is much better than UCSD DS! UCSD DS is quite narrowed compared to UICU Stats. Besides, I may wrong but you can switch to CS at UICU easier … you might have to make sure.
Look at the process of changing to CS from CS Stat at UIUC … it’s different for Stat+CS people in UIUC to switch …

uc gpa: 3.95

first rejection, so competitive this year
Best of luck to everyone. My D was denied, Friday evening (7:30 EDT).
@nella2024
UIUC Stats + CS does a good job of including key computer science concepts along with statistical analysis. And like you said UCSD DS is pretty narrow in the topics it covers. If I went to UIUC I don’t think I would try and change majors.
@lilgcs exactly. You don’t need to change majors unless you don’t like statistic classes. UICU CS+Stat is perfect and even better the regular CS major if you can handle the stats classes.
@nella2024
Yeah it’s perfect except that it costs 55k a year to attend ?
@lilgcs You are right!
D accepted with Regents Scholarship. OOS. Biology Major.
This is D’s dream college. Can’t afford high tuition for OOS even with scholarship.
I have the option to work from home and if I move to CA this summer, will we be able to get instate tuition for next year?
If you are trying to establish your residency in order to qualify for state tuition, you must live in California for more than a year (at least 366 days) directly before the residence determination date. To get state tuition you must also come to California with the intent to live there, not just to go to school.
Thanks @siclocusest . D is also interested in going to UCSD SOM eventually. Yes, we will be relocating to live in SD to support her education goals. When is the residence determination date?
@Gumbymom what is the criteria for an OOS person to establish residency to get in state tuition? I thought it was pretty difficult.
