Anyone get off waitlist for environmental engineering?
Hey guys, on UCSD’s website, they say
“The Housing Application Deadline is May 7 for First Year and June 7 for Transfers. After reserving Housing, you will receive a Housing Contract in the summer where you can select housing options and roommate preferences.”
If waitlist applicants get in after the deadline, how will they apply for housing?
I believe students admitted off the waitlist after the regular housing application deadline would be assigned a different deadline
Any word about a new wave and when it might come out?
Does being instate affect your waitlist chances at all?
Will sending them an email about my current situation and my achievements from after I sent in my application hurt my chances of getting accepted? They are my top choice!
Unliless you were rejected, you cannot appeal if you are waitlisted. UCSD does not accept appeals from waitlisted applicants. Now, if you were rejected and want to appeal before the deadline, which I don’t know when it is, you can talk about your achievements.
Would writing an email technically be an appeal?
@Pizzalover909: If they wanted an update on your achievements or circumstances, they would have had an option to submit them when opting into their waitlist. If they do not ask for anything extra, do not send them anything extra.
No, you need to find the appeal form in your portal, usually in the FAQ section. They don’t accept email appeals.
@PizzaLover909 Don’t appeal if you were waitlisted because they won’t even bother reading it. Your best bet is crossing your fingers and manifesting right now!

My SAT score is 1510 with a 20 on essay
My GPA is 4.4 weighted
I did have many extracurricular which is what I believe to have gotten me accepted off WL / I’m IS & SoCal if that’s helpful
I got accepted off of WL on 4/28. My deadline is May 15th for housing

Is there a specific order of waitlisted students ucsd goes by when sending out decisions? Or is it completely random?

Do they send out ‘decision made on your portal’ emails even if you get rejected off the waitlist?

Hi Belovedmaze! Could you mind telling me your major?
- I emailed UCSD and they said their waitlist was NOT ranked WHATSOEVER. (Literally, they kept insisting it.) So while @BelovedMaze may have incredible stats and extracurriculars, that was not the reason he got in. It was just luck of the draw!
2)You don’t get “rejected off the waitlist”. If you get a portal update anytime soon, you got in. But by the end of June they WILL send everyone a letter who didn’t get accepted off the waitlist a “sorry there’s no more space available” letter.

@thegreatgatz I think he’s saying that its all luck if I’m not mistaken like a lottery? idk maybe @Gumbymom could clarify
@thegreatgatz @cali404 yep it’s a lottery system. Because even if you look at previous threads, there are students who get off despite selecting capped majors. They just go in undeclared. So that’s evidence that it isn’t ranked by major. And it’s not based by stats either because @aaronruizx stats aren’t extremely high either, yet he got off the waitlist on 4/28.
