@AmTand My son hasn’t received any emails or update to his account since March. Waitlisted applicants will likely not hear back until after the SIR date of May 1st.
my apologies @YesEd and @Sisternight it was an old email I was made aware about. pls disregard
last year many waitlisted kids were notified the last week of april. Do u think thats the case this year?
do they still notify you even if you’re rejected from the waitlist?
@anxiety00: Yes you will be notified one way or another. Once they have met their target enrolled they will close the waitlist and all students still on the waitlist will be notified.
Does the UC waitlist have any priority system, for example, individuals who have higher stats have a higher chance to get off the wait-list or is it completely random?
@orandhaw I think they review your application holistically one more time
@phatdoggo That is incorrect. Please do not spread incorrect information online. Do you have a source for this?
Does anyone know how the major change process at UCSD is? For example if I was admitted into one major but I want to change it before the school year starts, is that possible? If so, is the process complicated?
@anxiety00 were you waitlisted?
@anxiety00: You cannot change your major until you have been accepted and enrolled. You can email the major department to get specific information on how to change your major if you are accepted off the waitlist.
What major do you want to change into?
UCSB waitlist just dropped today, UCSD may follow soon.
@repaihe23r1ivers all or some
@collegefresh7364 This is just the first wave. More will come.
@collegefresh7364 yes I was
@Gumbymom I really want to change into Marine Biology! That is my alternative major. But my first major is less competitive so I’m not sure if they’re going to accept me for my alternative directly
@anxiety00: There is no harm in trying to email admissions since this not a “normal” admissions cycle but since you are on the waitlist and not admitted you really have no leverage at this point.
UCSD admits into the university first and then into the major, so there is no way to know your major options until they accept you.
@Gumbymom Got it. Do you know if chances of being admitted off of the waitlist is slim based on the past years? I got a 1320 on SAT, 3.9 academic GPA, involved in a few clubs, no sports, and 100+ hours of community service. What is their method of determining who to admit from the waitlist?
@anxiety00: The UC’s do not reveal how students are admitted off the waitlist. Even though they do state they do not rank the waitlist, they will have some hierarchy to determine whom they accept. I would imagine overall application stats and intended major play a large part and over the last few years, many students are admitted as Undeclared from the waitlist, so that is something to consider if you are accepted.
Looking at the Freshman profile for last year, you can see how you measure up.
@Gumbymom thank you so much!
anyone get off the UCSD waitlist yet?
