UCSD is an amazing school, and I’m proud that I got in but Cal is my dream, and getting rejected from UCLA just upped my anxiety levels.
Can I change the major I got admitted into? I got into Sociocultural Anthro but I want to change it to Biological Anthro. Is that possible? If so, what do I do?
Hi, guys I was admitted into UCSD for economics major 2016. My GPA is 3.5. I have a special circumstance. I dropped a econ class, major preq. Missing this class will lead my Igetc from completed certification to partial certification. This is the only class I drop. I have called and talked to admission, they reply me to take in the summer or take it over summer. I am still worrying if they are going to cancel my admission. I am planning to take it over summer. Is here anyone have some ideas?
I re-post this for missing some information in my previous reply. Hi, guys I was admitted into UCSD for economics major 2016. My GPA is 3.5. I have a special circumstance. I dropped an econ class, major preq. Missing this class will lead my Igetc from completed certification to partial certification, but I will have done 75 transferble units. This is the only class I drop. I have called and talked to admission, they reply me to take in the summer or take it in the UCSD. I am still worrying if they are going to cancel my admission. I am planning to take it over summer. The admission officer in UCSD kinda confuses me. Is anyone here have some ideas?
I just checked the financial aid tool and it said I hadn’t submitted my FAFSA. So I checked my FAFSA and I had put the University of San Diego, not UCSD. I fixed the problem and then just now submitted it. Will UCSD get my information in time? Do I need to contact UCSD?
@med97student they will get it but it will take some time, i added SFSU to my fasfa about 3 weeks ago and got my aid package like 5 days ago, and I never contacted them. Maybe if you contact the office it might speed it up tho.
Can anyone help me out? I got into UCSD’s economics but I’m missing two calc classes that are required for my major. On assist.org it says that I won’t be able to start my upper division classes until I finish all my math classes. Does that mean if I do decide to go to UCSD that’s I’ll be taking one math class per quarter for two quarters until I finish calc 3??? Are there any required classes that I have to take at UCSD that don’t require calc 1-3? One class per quarter wouldn’t be very cost-effective…
Major: Economics (first choice)
College: Warren (second choice)
GPA: 3.78
IGETC: Completed by the end of spring 2016
Applied: UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UCSC
Accepted: UCSD, UCD, UCSC
Rejected: UCSB (missing two calc prereqs for major)
Regardless of where you go you would still have to take those Calc classes before you enroll in ANY upper division Econ class as they all have a Calc Pre-req.
Hi guys! I’ve been following this thread for a while and found out I’ve been waitlisted UCSD is my top choice so i’ll definitely be opting in to be on the waitlist… But does anyone know what my chances are of actually being admitted from the waitlist?? I don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing. Also, anyone else in the same boat as me??
Seems like quite a few got in, but they had to wait until June for a final decision. Of course safe to assume it’s a moving target, and changes every year based in how many complete the SIR.
Congratulations to everyone that was admitted! Last year at Triton Transfer Day we visited the village with our D and we were able to see an actual apartment. Of course they showed us the best apartment there was with a view from the single bedroom window to Gliderport (you can see the ocean!). My D is from La Jolla and decided to get an apartment off campus instead of living in the village. She was concerned about making friends, but joined a sports team and met tons of people that way and also made friends easily with those in her major classes once school started. If you decide to live off campus make sure that you are on the bus route (201/202) for the Superloop. Cost of the bus is included with your fees paid each quarter and campus parking is horrible! They are closing even more parking beginning next fall. I live near UCSD and the students start parking on my street by 6 am each morning.
My friend that’s at ucsd said that they’re not letting freshman get parking passes and bring their cars next school year so parking won’t be as horrible? Is that true?
Solstice1 - I believe they are not letting freshman bring cars because they are closing parking lots on campus. I think the lot closures may be due to the construction starting for the trolley coming up to La Jolla in the next few years.
Some of the neighborhoods in La Jolla have 2 hour parking signs so students are parking further and further from campus and either catching the bus or walking since having a parking pass is no guarantee you will get a space. UCSD now has parking spaces marked going down the hill to the Aquarium. This is a pain for those of us that use this road to get to La Jolla Shores since the lane is very tight now. UCSD has not done a good job with parking overall and has just pushed the problem out into our neighborhoods. I feel sorry for the students in this regard. That is why my D chose to live close to school and to a bus stop so she doesn’t have to try and park each day.
