Is there anyone else on here that’s planning to commute to UCSD?
@showmom858 I’ve heard mixed opinions about commuting to school. Some say it’s a pain and some say it’s not too bad, depending on the time your classes are. I have a friend that starts at 8am and says parking is horrible, but on the other hand I have another friend that starts her classes at 11am and she says she finds parking no problem. I guess it just has to do with personal opinion and timing I guess.
Turned down UCSD for UCSB, anyone else in the same boat?
@aedie1. My husband and I both made the same decision (although we’ve now graduated). A fellow Gaucho sent this to me earlier today. Loved my UCSB experience!

Was debating between UCSD and Berkeley, but UCSD is offering me a full-ride through their Chancellors Associates Program. I do love Berkeley, but it’ll be hard to pass up UCSD especially cause my family is /super/ low income and I don’t want to take out loans. My plan is to go to law school so I figured it’s best to save up money now in undergrad
I’m planning to commute to UCSD, and I sincerely hope I don’t regret it >.> I’ve also heard mixed things about it
@vflores96 That’s what I’m doing too. I live like maybe 30-40 minutes away but it’ll save me money not staying on campus. Lets hope we both don’t have a horrible time commuting haha.
Question: Don’t get any financial help due to parent had middle income, but got “laid off”, no job now. Is there anyway I I can get help for tuition?
So for people who got accepted or waitlisted, did you find a correlation having a ucsd email on the off campus housing section?
@ssm24k I got waitlisted and I remember seeing that email for me around the time that the first batch came out.

Hey guys, I just wanted to leave a note for next year’s applicants.
For any future Private School -> UC applicants: It is possible! I was told by many people that it was impossible, but I did it. I would recommend shooting for above a 3.75 GPA if you really want to get in. And take courses that are similar to those listed in the UC-wide course catalog. Good luck!
should i go ucsd or uci for computer science…
can’t decide
@csplzplz I would go UCSD because its CS program is top ranked!
@csplzplz I agree with @chuclan21. The UCSD CS program is infamous for its research.
I just got a call from UCSD congratulating me on my acceptance
As for the No Freshman Parking Pass thing I heard, she let me know that it was just a rumor and nothing has been finalized about having first year students (Freshman) not being able to buy a parking pass. She did mention that it has been talked about, but nothing has been finalized. If that was the case, then more parking for everyone yay lol
